Default CA: Pot shop gets green light

Pot shop gets green light
06-15-06 | SantaCruzSentinel.Com

In a 6-1 vote Tuesday night, the Santa Cruz City Council denied two appeals aiming to halt opening the city's second medical marijuana dispensary.

The dispensary was unanimously approved by the city Planning Commission in April; that approval was challenged and the matter brought before the council. On Tuesday, several neighbors and business owners from the Harvey West neighborhood voiced concerns over parking, lighting and litter removal.

Most in the overflow crowd at the meeting, however, spoke in favor of the shop.

K.E. Sampson, a Corralitos resident and medical marijuana patient, plans to turn an empty office building on Limekiln Street into The Santa Cruz Patient Collective.

Sampson says his business will improve the neighborhood, where homeless people gather and live, and provide access to the drug for the estimated 3,000 medical pot patients in the county.

Councilman Mike Rotkin said the council could consider limiting the number of dispensaries.

Default Right Idea

These folks in California have the right idea for a stable and continuous supply of marijuana. If the government does manage to get a grip on the border, and that's a big if, the demand will still be there and the patients will have their supply ensured. The Feds ought to leave their paws off it since they have enough to do fighting terrorism. I'm tired of the Feds' crap. Ok, so you Feds have titles and status, so what, you still don't have the right to do the bidding of vigilantes who have gotten their congressmen and congresswomen to put their prejudices into law. I mean, the mainstream is starting to fuss about the coverup of the NASA scientists work on global warming. Great, they finally pulled their heads out of their butts on that one. Now let's see them get behind the marijuana reform issue, big time!

Default Ca. Med Dispensaries

they come and go the one I used to go to was in west hollywood, and they were pretty steep on top named stuff, the lower grades some were just as good, but they are closed now,so I shifted closer to home, that being o.c. we dont have but about eight shops in o.c.,and it's getting harder and harder to find,I don't want to go to downtown l.a. thats a zoo,and controlled by mostly gang's,so the hunt goes on,I've been smoking since I was 13 and am now 52,I've seen so many changes over the years that they are just a blur now, back in the day we could get kilo's for85 bucks, then colombian hit the scene at 400 a pound, and there it went, that colombian was red bud and very good then came the gold, which you can still get,but be prepared it's not cheap,at any rate enjoy and shalom, and spin one for me.

Default Anyone Agree?

first off, i was glad to hear about the six to one vote. it shows that more people are getting informed on medical marijuana. but the main point of this blurb: being a younger smoker(21) i loved hearing about the way it was back in the day(in reference to KingHelwigs post), i dont know how to do it but someone should post a thread just on how things were. anyone agree?
