| An Ax To Grind On Three Points Bob Reiseck | Modesto Bee | 06/22/2006 I was watching "The Oprah Winfrey Show," and there was a guy who got 40 years for armed robbery of seven banks. Then, on the news some time later, there was a man who killed a woman with his car (high on marijuana) and he gets the max of 10 years, eight months. Where is the justice? No one was hurt in the bank robberies; this guy who kills a woman with his car only gets 10 years. This sounds like we place more importance on money being stolen than killing someone. (BuzzNote: Could it be that we place more importance on multiple intentionally committed crimes than on an accident?) Second, I have seen and heard the media refer to a government official, like our governor, by his last name only and his opponent by his first and last name. How do you expect the new generation to have respect for anybody when the news media refers to government officials with their last name only? And why do you make it so difficult to contact you? Why not just put right up front "Contact us"? It would make things a lot easier.
