|  WA: NEW: Let the pot harvest begin NEW: Let the pot harvest begin 07-19-06 | Yakima-Herald.Com | Chris Bristol ELLENSBURG — The marijuana harvest has begun. Kittitas County sheriff's deputies uprooted 60 immature marijuana plants Tuesday that were spotted from the air on private property northwest of Ellensburg, Sheriff Gene Dana said. The plants ranged in size from 6 to 18 inches, Dana said. The owner of the property was unaware of the crop and no arrests were made or anticipated, Dana added. The grow was called in by spotters aboard a National Guard helicopter. Spotters will be operating throughout the summer as part of the Columbia River drug task force. Also participating in the task force are authorities in Chelan County, which have their own helicopter. |
