Woman Caught With Drugs In Pants

A woman pleaded not guilty to a charge involving 291.2 milligrams of marijuana stuffed inside her undergarments.

Lose Helu, 42, has been charged with being in possession of illicit drugs.

She was denied bail by the Suva court.

Helu appeared before magistrate Aruna Prasad yesterday and was remanded until August 4 when the matter is to be transferred to the High Court.

Prosecutor Inspector Surend Gosai said the maximum sentence for such offence was life or $1 million fine.

Ms Prasad denied bail to Helu because her visa had expired and she was overstaying in Fiji.

It is alleged on May 20 this year, Helu was in a hotel when police received information she was dealing drugs. It is alleged she was found with the drugs in the hotel.

That's very unfortunate. I want to feel sorry for this person but this is life. The Middle East and Asia will f*** your world up when it comes to drugs. If she didn't know then it's her fault not doing the proper research on her country.

Now I want to think in some of my travels I could have gotten away with taking some personal drugs cause at the end of the day, no one will really know what your doing. When you start dealing it becomes a whole other story. Best of luck to her.

Oh crap .3 of a gram? Unfortunately in some countries,they play hardball,especially if an american is involved,my mind is kind of reeling at the thought of this,hopefully they will drop this,if not I hope they give her the smallest sentence possible,in some countries even this small of an amount will get you killed,this just shows the ignorance of politicizing everything they can,not that it matter's but do you happen to know what kind of dope she might go to jail for life for? I am really sorry for this person,however if your going into someone else's sandbox you have to play by the rules,and not kick the sand in their face,if she comes away from this I hope she'll never try it again,and this may curtail some countries she might want to visit in the future,she may have to check before traveling,they may not admit her into the country shes thinking of going to.Bummer.

I don't think I have ever seen such a sentence for such a small amount of marijuana since I've began reading the headlines. Let's also keep in mind that the actual charges appear to be for possession of cannabis, not for dealing. The police were contacted with the story that she was dealing, but obviously when the cops got there the evidence was not present.

Let's entertain the idea that she was dealing and somehow got a "heads up" that the cops were coming and flushed the marijuana. Why keep such a small amount? I guess we will never know.

They said a life sentence or a million dollar fine, i doubt she has a million dollars so they will probably give her life which is insane for the amount she had. The prosecutor's gotta be out of his mind if he asks for the maximum sentence for as little as .3 grams. If that happend in Saudi Arabia she would have probably been executed, but i don't know how that could be any worse than getting life in prison, freedom is still takin away.

We hate the drug laws but one thing to think about after reading things like this, atleast in America we aren't facing sentences like that for the amount she was caught with.
