| Agents Raid Medical Marijuana Dispensary CBS 2 | 10/04/2006 (CBS) PALM SPRINGS Federal and local officers converged on a medical marijuana dispensary in Palm Springs Wednesday to execute a search warrant, authorities said. The warrant was being served at 1733 N. Palm Canyon Drive by officers with the Palm Springs Narcotics Task Force and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, according to the DEA's Sarah Pullen. The raid came one day after the Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to formally ban marijuana dispensaries in unincorporated county areas, which does not apply to city areas like Palm Springs. Supervisor Roy Wilson, who represents the area around Palm Springs and eastward to Blythe, was the lone dissenter. He said the county ban is in defiance of state law that requires local governments to establish ways for patients to obtain "medical" marijuana. The supervisors stopped short of an outright prohibition on marijuana-growing cooperatives, but did ban the distribution of marijuana to "caregivers," qualified patients or patients with a state identification card even at marijuana-growing co-ops that are legal under California law. Riverside County also joined San Diego and San Bernardino counties in a court challenge of state medical marijuana laws, which are at odds with federal law, which bans the sale of marijuana. Supervisor Jeff Stone, a former pharmacist, said the board is seeking clarity in the courts about conflicting state and federal laws. Voters in 12 states, including California, have decriminalized medical marijuana.

| Why are they keeping so much stuff sealed and blaming them for trafficking? It's a freaking clinic. It seems like the federal government is picking on the Californians a little bit. |

They refuse to associate the term "clinic" or "pharmacy" or "treratment" with cannabis. Dispensary is out, too. And you are right - they ARE picking on California. The Medical Marijuana Revolution began there and the Feds have a long history of interfering with a subculture's successes when they are in conflict with federal ideologies. Why have they spent so much time and money and manpower and legal rsources chasing Steve Kubby? Why did they use PATRIOT Act provisions (MLAT's) to arrest Marc Emery, a Canadian citizen in his own sovereign country for breaking what are American laws? It's called PERSECUTION.
