Dealers get desperate as drug supply dries up

Drug dealers are under pressure from a nationwide police blitz on cannabis farms. The clampdown, which has targeted farms producing potent 'skunk', has seen prices almost double in some cities, according to Drugscope, the drugs awareness charity, which calculates street values based on interviews with dealers.

The latest issue of the charity's magazine, Druglink, has found some dealers so desperate to replace their supplies they are offering customers cash for the use of a spare room in which to grow the drug. 'Just two months ago you could buy in bulk, say three kilos. Now you're lucky to find more than a half kilo for sale,' said one dealer.

In Birmingham, prices are said to have doubled in the past two months with the price of a kilo of cannabis skunk rising from £1,000 to between £1,800 and £2,000.

The drug prices increased and pot growers are becoming desperate to find places to grow. The cops think this is going to solve problems? The more desperate growers become, if they become successful with a grow operation theres probably going to be a lot of rip offs, dealers stealing other dealers weed supply or growers getting ripped off. Eventually it's probably going to start causing a increase in violence. The corruption is already starting to go up when they are starting to pay their own customers to let them have a grow room. Before all this started to happen the only crime customers were committing was purchasing some pot. A lot of smokers will probably start growing for personal use.

The whole thing is nothin but a joke, they go through all this trouble over a plant! They gotta protect the people from getting stoned so they will just go out and drink and give alcohol dealers their money.

I've seen times when it's gone dry. Maybe the cops hit somebody big on the chain and the check just didn't come in the mail. Maybe a connector moved out of town, or everybody went back to school. You know how it is with weed.

How the cops could target 'skunk' dealers in particular, that one is funny.
