Default USA: Marijuana, too boring to be bad

Marijuana, too boring to be bad

The war of drugs is like the war on terrorism: expensive, neverending, largely symbolic and mostly ineffective.

Arizona has the distinction of being a top marijuana smuggling gateway. Border Patrol has seized a record amount of pot this fiscal year, nearly equaling the amount seized in Texas, New Mexico and California combined.

One could say this indicates praiseworthy work on the part of law enforcement. One could also say this indicates smuggling has increased, so seizures have remained merely average.

I've never liked marijuana. My issue with it has nothing to do with its illegality, but rather that it makes its users intensely dull. I hate dull people and stoners are the dullest of the dull. All they do is watch the same movies over and over again and eat junk food. I already do that and I don't have to spend any of my money on pot.

That being said, count me among the number that thinks the stuff should be legalized already. We pour money and resources into eradicating its use and still it is so prevalent that it takes one phone call to purchase it, and at an affordable price.

Which brings up a question. How does law enforcement decide how much their seizures are worth? They always have a monetary value attached, which doesn't seem necessary, except to reassure the anti-drug set that the work has "worth".

Someone's making that phone call I mentioned ...

"Dude, how much you charging these days? ... Cool, got it ... Nah, I've got enough to last me the weekend ... Whatcha up to? ... Man, I love that movie!"

Oh really? Would this author claim that all fat people smell like french fries because all they do is compulsively eat McDonalds? Would he claim that all black people like watermellon and fried chicken? The ignorant and blatantly false generalization that all potheads are lazy dullards really hurts an otherwise agreeable article. I, for one, usually exercise after toking, and I try to resist the munchies whenever possible. The stereotype of the lazy stoner that's been haunting us since before Cheech & Chong has gone unchallenged for far too long.

Peace.

I agree. I ride mtn bike about 2-3 times a week and have not one problem with smoking the herb everyday. Have been for 10 years also .. not everyday but enough.

Problem is with her article is that everyone has a choice and who is she to judge. In her experiences she has run into 3-4 who were dull .. and then generalizes ..

This is good in a way anyways, even people that don't like it think it should be legalized ..
