Man Asks Police To Return His 18 Pounds Of Marijuana

Shashon Jenkins is going to court to get his pot back. Eighteen pounds worth.

Police seized the weed after arresting Jenkins in Santa Rosa, Calif., in October. But charges were dropped after Jenkins's lawyer convinced prosecutor the man was a medical marijuana user and caregiver.

A judge in Sonoma County ordered police to return the marijuana, but officers have refused. While California voters approved pot use for medicinal reasons, the federal government doesn't recognize the exemption. Police contend they can't return the pot under federal law.

A judge has ordered officers to court in March to explain why they shouldn't be held in contempt.

I don't know the whole story here, but it would be ridiculous to claim that 18 pounds was for personal use.

This story doesn't include this, but the guy was a medical marijuana patient and caregiver.

Actually, it did say he was a medical marijuana user and caregiver. And Buzzby, it wouldn't all be for personal use--he's a caregiver, so he probably needs a lot to give to his beneficiaries for free. But you do have a point: 18 pounds is excessive.

18 pounds sounds like a lot of cannabis, but it is not.

Think about it, imagine that you have a 2 ounce a month medical necessity.

2x12=24 ounces, 1.5 pounds. 1.5X12= 18. That is a years worth of smoke for a dozen people. If it is outdoor grown it is perfectly logical to have that much even for 6 people with the reasoning that some years you do not harvest so you grow 2 years worth at a time.

I piss 18 pound's,thats barely 9 key's and if your getting it through the spanish people it's less because to them a key isn't 2.24 its 2. if your lucky I had some idiot try to tell me there was 3 halfs in an ounce I told him then you owe me a half because you only gave me two halfs,I thought he was going to go for it for a minute,then he came bact to reality and made our thing straight,or I would have been about almost 1-1/2,when all was said and done sometimes it pays to keep your mouth shut.

Actually, a kilogram is almost exactly 2.2 pounds (2.204622622). Eighteen pounds would be 8.16466266 kilos.
