Default KY: School Teacher Sent Text Messages To Buy Marijuana

School Teacher Sent Text Messages To Buy Marijuana
02.24.07|Kutv com

A middle school teacher trying to buy pot was arrested after she sent text messages to state trooper instead of a dealer, police said.

Trooper Trevor Pervine was at dinner with his wife and parents celebrating a birthday when his phone started buzzing with messages about a marijuana purchase.

At first, Pervine thought the messages were from friends playing a joke, Kentucky State Police spokesman Barry Meadows said. But a couple of phone calls put that idea to rest, and Pervine responded to set up a meeting, Meadows said.

Authorities say Ann Greenfield, 34, arrived at the meeting point and found Pervine and other law enforcement officers waiting for her.

"She learned her lesson. Program your dealers into your phone," Meadows said.

Greenfield, a teacher at Murray Middle School, was charged with conspiracy to traffic in controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, Meadows said.

She was suspended with pay pending results of an investigation, the Murray Independent School District said in a statement posted Friday on the district's Web site. A message seeking comment left at a listing for an Ann Greenfield in Murray, Ky. was not returned.

This woman should have bought 4 quarts of KY Sour Mash, wolfed 'em down, taken on the 101st Airborne, spent the rest of the weekend throwing up and, providing she could make it to school to teach, would still have her job and the law and the community wouldn't care a whit. As it stands, criminal sanctions aside, she is through as a teacher and will be hard pressed to ever find any employment that utilizes her education and training.
Chalk one up for the Good Guys, Trooper, the good citizens of the Commonwealth can sleep better tonight. Kentucky's tax dollars well spent...

A good idea for the police but a very bad idea for marijuana users. If you get busted, every number programmed into your cell phone becomes a lead for the cops.

Default too many details

too many details were sent in the text message. It also sounded like she had drugs and a pipe or something on her when she got busted. Also not a good idea while going to score. Granted the law is far more harmful, but we should try to be stealthy while we are still considered criminals.
