Navarre pot photographer sentenced

A man who took photos of his marijuana plants to a local photo lab for processing has been sentenced to 24 months' probation.

Willrob Canby Gibson, 37, of the 8100 block of Tortuga Street in Navarre, pleaded no contest to marijuana cultivation charges Monday before Santa Rosa Circuit Judge Gary Bergosh.

In addition to probation, Gibson will also be required to perform 50 hours of community service, pay court costs, undergo substance abuse education and training, abstain from the use of drugs and alcohol, undergo routine drug testing and possess no weapons.

In October 2006, Santa Rosa County deputies found about 30 plants and more than $30,000 worth of marijuana in Gibson�s home after a local photo lab alerted them to photos Gibson had brought in for processing.

Gibson admitted he took the photographs and told deputies he was growing marijuana for his use.

Deputies also found three growing cabinets with artificial lights, a drying machine, the plants, a large amount of dried marijuana, growing chemicals and fertilizers.

How can you be smart enough to grow that much weed in your home but stupid enough to take pictures of the crop to a public developing lab? The world doesn't make any damn sense I swear.

its nice to know there are so many idiots out there willing to be fodder and make the cops feel like they are doing their job. Helps me get away with my plants.

Despite believing that anything this person did shouldn't be a crime, isn't this still a pretty lenient sentence in FL for growing 30 plants and possessing as much as he did?? Looks like it's a felony worth up to 5 yrs in jail. I'd take probation (and even all the other stuff) any day. Maybe I'm out of touch?
Still, a really dumb move on his part.
