Default USA: The War on Drugs - you may be next

The War on Drugs - you may be next
12-19-`07 | LewRockwell.org

Two officers who raided an innocent family's house on a bad tip were shot at and returned fire, but no one was injured, a police spokesman said.

Vang Khang said Monday that he grabbed his hunting gun to protect himself, his wife and his six children when they heard someone burst through the back door early Sunday. He fired three shots, hitting two members of the SWAT team, but they were unhurt because of their bulletproof vests and helmets.

Officers returned fire, but nobody in the house was injured. Police released Khang after taking his statement.

All six of the children, ages 3 to 15, were home at the time.

Thank goodness no one was hurt or killed.

Yeah, thank God no one was hurt! It's hard to say that when you shoot at a SWAT team...that guy is incredibly lucky, him and his family. We don't need what happened in Atlanta to ever happen again.

A group of Mexicans got raided, a guy got kicked in the testicles, and a pregnant woman was knocked around, just five minutes from my house.

Bad tips from informants desperate to get off, or shoddy police work leading to going to the house across the street....it's all just collateral damage

Haha wow that buddy is pretty lucky the SWAT team didn't unleash a can of whoop-ass on him and his family with machineguns.

All that just because of a bad tip, that just says if you want someone dead you've got your hitman all you need to do is call 911. I don't really know know what to think anymore the government has all gone to shit and it doesnt make any sense anymore. Can they do ANYTHING without fucking it up?

Default not in jail

at least he is not in jail for shooting the cops, they believe his story about not realizing that it was the police when he shot at them.

ha
this really reminds me of something that happened close to my house not too long ago.
The police raided a guys house who they believed was a drug dealer. The guy who's house it was pulled out a gun and shot at them and a policeman was killed. No drugs were found and the guy was released because he had no idea it was the police who were in his house, and the guy just wanted to protect himself and his family.

The police shouldn't expect any less from their citizens. If you bust down my door I would shoot first ask questions later. There are too many home invasions and truly violent criminals out there for people not to protect their homes. If the police are going to raid someones home they had better be sure of the reasons.

Civilian Gun Self-Defense Blog

What isn't mentioned here is that the officers involved fired approximately 20-30 shots, all without hitting their intended target. So, not only does the case involve cops whop appearently don't bother to verify addresses before conducting a raid, but also involves SWAT members who cannot effectively and accurately fire their weapons within the short distances found in most homes. The homeowner fired two shots, bot of which connected. Another thing that isn't mentioned is that the cops have left the option open to CHARGE the man who fired upon them, even though Minnisota has a "castle doctrine" where you have no expectation to retreat when confronted in your own home. No charges have been filed yet, and I hope none are. This man SHOULD NOT be punished for trying to defend himself and his family within the confines of his own home. Yes, he fired on police officers, but those officers had no reason or right to be in his home in the first place. The cops definitely have egg on their face here. If they attempt to charge this guy, I hope he has a nice long laugh when the court settlement is announced. The cops have already admitted their error....he's probably due for a BIG settlement sometime soon. The only reason the cops would charge him is out of revenge and desperation.

Our tax dollars hard at work. How much time and money was wasted in the name that injustice? How many violent crimes could have been stopped just by the extra presence of the officers used in the raid? If they ended prohibition they could use the money they would have spent to add officers to the streets and improve training. This would protect people a lot better than trying, in vane, to police marijuana. If only logic played as much a part in law making as money did.
