| BBC to break drugs taboo A film scheduled to be broadcast in the next few months and on the eve the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith will announce her decision to re-criminalise cannabis as a 'class B' drug will show acclaimed journalist Nicky Taylor smoking cannabis and being injected with THC at a King`s College laboratory. The last such film (a Panorama episode featuring a journalist taking LSD) went unscreened for thirty years. 2-25-`07 | by Hashishi Nicky Taylor is well known for her hands-on approach to her assignments- for example ingesting binge levels of alcohol during the course of a programme investigating Britain`s binge culture. It has been revealed that her next feature will cover cannabis consumption and its screening will coincide with the announcement of cannabis` reclassification as a 'class B' drug following its downgrading under Blair`s reign in 2001. During the course of the programme, she will be shown being injected at a laboratory of King`s College, London, with a THC extract. A source cited by The Telegraph, who`s said to have seen the footage, is quoted as saying that "the effect was dramatic. It was unpleasant." The tone of the program is unknown, but it was said by a BBC spokesman to "unequivocally highlight the risks of consuming the drug and will be scheduled post-watershed." The film will air on BBC3 and an international audience will be able to view it on the same evening it airs via the BBCi Player. Check back here for updates.
