"The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

The human condition in world religions

*Humans have always been attracted by life's mystery: its origin, meaning, and finality. The author of Shvetashvatara Upanishad asks: "Whence are we born? Whereby do we live, and whither do we go?" (1,1). Consequently, not only Hinduism, but all religions need to give an answer to the fundamental questions concerning creation, life, and death.

What is the human being? According to pantheist religions, a small part of the Ultimate Reality locked up by the illusion of physical experience. According to Theravada Buddhism, nothing but an illusion, a temporary combination of five aggregates, none of which is ultimately real. Dualistic religions, like Gnosticism and Manicheism, state that humans are spiritual beings originated in another world, a kind of angels fallen into a miserable bodily condition. According to monotheistic religions, the human being is a person created in the image and likeness of God.*
*
What is humanity's present condition? Have we fallen from the created status as a result of sin, defined as a moral barrier against our creator? Or are we rather a product of the periodical manifestation of the Ultimate Reality, and thus ignoring our true spiritual nature? Do we have a soul that predated our birth or not? Is our personal character illusory, or do we keep it for a further existence? Is our destiny limited to this present existence, or do we inherit an eternal one, and if eternal, is it personal or impersonal, conformed with the character of the creator or absorbed into the impersonal nature out of which all things emanated? These are some of the aspects that define the human condition in the world’s religions. Closely related to how human nature is defined are the values we pursue in life and the kind of relationship we have with our neighbors.*

Cannabis and the Bible

*What's your take on this????

Jesus Used Marijuana?

The ancient recipe for this anointing oil, recorded in the Old Testament book of Exodus (30: 22-23) included over nine pounds of flowering cannabis tops, Hebrew "kaneh-bosm" B, extracted into a hind (about 6.5 litres) of olive oil, along with a variety of other herbs and spices. The ancient chosen ones were literally drenched in this potent cannabis holy oil.

The Greek title "Christ" is the translation of the Hebrew word Messiah, which in English becomes "The Anointed" D. The Messiah was recognized as such by his being anointed with the holy anointing oil, the use of which was restricted to the instillation of Hebrew priests and kings. If Jesus was not initiated in this fashion then he was not the Christ, and had no official claim to the title.*

*It's supposed to be an old Hebrew thing, I think the Catholics annoint with Priest juice.*
*
I picked this up somewhere on...........

Aloha. I made holy anointing oil the other day according to the recipe in Exodus 30:23, but with cannabis instead of the mis-translated 'calamus', or sweet cane. It works.
The word Christ = anointed. Anointed with what, exactly?
It's an amazing sacrament with some wonderful qualities. Who knows just where this experiment will go?
Holy anointing oil smells like cinnamon because it includes cinnamon bark known as cassia, AND cinnamon leaf, plus liquid myrrh in an olive oil base. Oh yes, and I also used 'Neville's haze' an organic cannabis sativa bud. Mixed together these ingredients approximate the recipe God gave to Moses for making certain people and certain things 'holy'.
Just a few drops applied on pulse points of the wrist and on the 'third eye' have given measurable results. Let's say that receivers of the oil have had 'religious experiences' with it.
A few drops! What might it be like to have one's head anointed with oil? If people were drenched with the oil I can imagine that it might have taken forty days and forty nights to recover from the ceremony and to have a whole new experience of God's grace and blessing.
This is new territory for me and I love it. Creating another holy sacrament with prayer and love and high intention for the maximum benefit of THC Ministry members to be enlightened and 'Christened'.*
Aloha and welcome - e komo mai (http://www.thc-ministry.org/)

Pre Post: This is a post that came out of "Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian". Several member started talking about Atheism including myself. I made mention that an atheist helped me strengthen my faith in God or something.. Mr. Yana Usdi asked me to post about the story. So here it is...enjoy

It was 1996. I was 20 years old and taking a freshman course Gen Ed (World Civilizations). The professor was Dr. Paul Brians of the English Department. Dr. Brians to me was an intellectual giant. One of the proff that just knew his shit up one way and down the other. Dr. Brians really knew the history of what seemed like every civilazation ever! I remember him saying that he loved to read the bible and study it but was a total atheist. No God, but loved to study religious text. Again the bible being his favorite. Dr. Brians never once said anything offensive or slanted about any faith or any people. He truly was objective. A pro. Brians was tough too! Bro, started out with like 120-130 students and the final had like 40 people in it. A true slave driver specially to freshman.

Now before I start this story let me first state the obvious. I get it. I sound like I am making stuff up or possibly just a big nut job right? Ya...well what can I say. I am not. I am about as straight shooter as can be. I am not seeking approval from a Internet forum. I have no reason to make this up. That being said I know I am going to get attacked (made fun of). Well possible attacked (made fun of). However, there are a lot of open minded intelligent people in this forum and others. Of course you always have trolls. I think trolls are people who never really speak up in "real life" but on the Internet as they feel free to be more outspoken. It kewl I guess. To each their own but I will say it's more effective when people try to talk sincere versus in slanderous egocentric manor. Just my humble opinion.

Ok, this is what happened. About half way threw the semester there was a class that Dr. Brians brought up the subject of the great flood. Noah's Arch basically. He was showing pictures and playing some sort of ancient music as he always did before class. A student asked him about the pics and the discussion began that changed everything for me. Again Dr. Brians is not an atheist that hates religion just the opposite. He started talking about how there have been records and artifacts found that talked about the great flood. That was what the pictures that he was showing where. Great right? Show's that the bible was accurate...right? Nope. Dr. Brians explains how the records describe the same story with the boat and animals but are all come from different time periods. Time periods from before Mose's would have been built the arch or even had been alive. If I remember right (its been 13 years) they found recoreds in China, Africa (not sure what part but not the obvious northern region) and I want to say s. America? Whatever it was it was not from the mid-east. What does that tell us? That most likely the story was no more then a wives tail passed down from generation to generation society to society. It had made it's way some how in the bible. I WAS DEVISTATED! Here is a man I totally respect showing me how the bible i have been holding above my head for the past 10 years and prayer and stating it was the ultimate truth didn't look like it was that truthful! Just in a 5 minute bullshit session before class totally crumbled my faith...

Let me tell you something here before I go any further to give everyone who is not a e-van. E-van's out there will back me up on this I believe. When you are an E-van and go to a "e-van" church one of the most common things is to lift your bible in the air and say a prayer about it being the living word of God. That the bible is perfect and without flaw. It is black and white. It say what it means and mean what it says etc. Now since the age of 10 I have been a Christian. I accepted Jesus as lord and savior. I went to church 3-4 times a week for what seems like forever but for the next 8 years. Yup. Total church kid...a rebel one but church kid none the less. So, when you say something in the bible is wrong at this time of my life (20) I was totally defensive and would think you where just trying to undermined the will and word of God. Well, can't really say that about Dr. Brians. I left that class devastated. I mean really just devastated. I went home to my dorm. Took off all my clothes turned the lights out and got into bed. Staring at the ceiling and I broke. I started crying like a baby (I was not a a crier). I whispered a prayer "God, I don't want to lose my faith". That's when it happened. Just like I heard people talk about before. A calmness came over me like a blanket covers you. Hard to explain it. But instantly stopped crying and I heard a voice say "JS even if this is all true, am I still not God?" *He did not say JS but my real name of course* Man, I am telling you it was a moment. Never heard or experienced anything like it. It was like crossing hearing a voice outside your head (like someone talking to you) and thinking a thought in your head. From that moment on I stopped worshiping the bible and started looking at it as more of a historical text. There is a lot of good messages in the bible. A lot of good stories that perhaps mix fact and fiction. Specially the old testament. I started focusing my faith more of the "message of the gospels" (love forgiveness understanding etc). Amazing difference to be honest. I no longer worry about rules set by the church or The Christian community. I am free in my life and liberated now that regardless of what the bible as a whole might be accurate about or not accurate about doesn't define my faith and relationship with God. It allows me to trust in science rather then the hocus pocus approach that seems to plague all religions. But that a post for another time. I guess my point is that when my faith was challenged by historical fact and in my darkest moment spiritually. When my prayer was raw and pure-from the heart God for some reason spoke to me. Probably will never happen again. I know Christians who have prayed there whole lives to hear God "talk to them" or "hear the voice of God" that have never. And the ones that say they do specially one's in authority I can't help be skeptical. We have all seen those BS TV ministers of the 80's. Praying in tongues and claiming to hear God talking to them. Then find out they are being busted for fraud and tax evasion. Fucking harrotic's.

So there you have it. My wacky God story. I really like it. It really is a pretty special thing to have happen and I have no idea why it did other then the fact I was really having doubts about everything. I never told Dr. Brians about that. I should. He would have gott'en a real kick out of it. "How an atheist helped me hear the voice of God". Its a goodlife huh?

Just something me and my father were discussing...

In early cultures, such as Roman and Greek, Religions had many Gods, Each having their purpose, often explaining a natural occurance in our world. Such as why there is lightning or typhoons...

As time went on and science advanced, The need for Multiple gods as explinations for these things dissapated, and we eventually narrowed it down to one god, Providing answers to questions science cant answer (yet), Namely, What happens after you die.

Ive always looked at heaven and hell as a explination for people, to give them some sense of security.

What do you guys think of this trend? Do you think in the future science may somehow prove what happens to our souls after death, and if it would mark the end of some religions?

*Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian*

*10* - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

*9* - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

*8 *- You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

Closely related to how human nature is defined are the values we pursue in life and the kind of relationship we have with our neighbors.*

this is a letter to my parents, I have to tell them about me smoking or else my moms friend is going to. im just trying to get them to not be mad.

    Dear Mom and Dad,

There has been something I’ve held inside for a long time that I have never been able to tell you, because I felt like I have never needed to. 9th grade was the hardest year of my life, probably just because I was becoming a young adult as I still am. I felt useless and un-accepted by everyone, I was not confidant at anything, and I felt almost no connection with God. I was almost to the point where suicide was an option, but not quite that bad. A lot has changed from then.

Last year flew by, I was an average Christian kid that loved God and had decent grades. I felt like was able to make a life, but still I felt like there was no purpose. Over the summer I felt the same way and still being a good Christian kid, but I felt like there was something missing, something really important. So 11th grade started and I became a running start student, I felt like I was actually pleasing you guys and was a real part of the Kellogg family since everyone has such good grades and it seems like they are perfect at life. I was finally doing good and you were proud, but then I was tested.

Nothing felt right after 2 weeks of school, I didn’t feel good and I was feeling how I did in 9th grade. I prayed every night for things to change or for me to get the courage to talk to someone. I never did. About two and a half months ago, I felt completely useless, I didn’t feel suicidal because I was successful, but God really tested me. Trying to get away from these feelings, I had my first experience with marijuana.

I was expecting maybe just some relaxation, or maybe even a simple get a way from stress and life, but I was not expecting what happen. My first experience my mind was thinking in ways I had never thought before. I could not stop thinking about how God used so many people and how he could use me. I started thinking about how I have all these non Christian friends and how I am really the only one that has any concern for God at all. Well from then on I turned my life around.

I’ve started reading my devotion consistently and I even got the bible study back, I’m focusing on school more and I really do want to make a difference in my friends lives by talking to them about God. I’m already in the process. None of this would have happened if I didn’t try marijuana and open up my mind.

I know you probably have lost a lot of trust for me, and I completely understand and I’m willing to face what ever you have for discipline. I’m just saying that my life is changing and I feel like I know what God needs me to do. Marijuana has been my optimism and creates a pathway how to get into a deeper relationship and expand my wisdom with him. Reading the bible makes sense, thinking about what he has done and what he has yet to do is absolutely remarkable and I can’t even explain it.

I’m no where close to addicted if that’s what you are thinking, I have just tried it a few times and loved it because I feel like I’m God’s child and there’s a meaning to me living. I can stop right now no problem because I know you and dad probably don’t approve of me smoking, even though it has only had positive affects on me. Plus I made sure I’ve had all my school work done before hand so I can stay successful and be in more touch with God.

The reason I’m telling you all of this because at glens house on Tuesday Glen’s mom found out that we had smoked after we studied, and we actually did study. But she wants you to call her and talk to you about it.

I know your disappointed in me and I’m sorry, but honestly I do not regret at least trying it because my life is turning around. I’m getting a job, and starting to be more successful at school, I’m peaking my friend’s interest about God and hopefully I will have all of them coming to youth group soon. I promise you I didn’t smoke to be rebellious, or do start doing major drugs or anything. I’m not addicted and it definitely will not lead to anything harder, I have no interest and just scared to do anything else.

Well know you know the truth, and I’m sorry if I have hurt you in any way. Please don’t lose your trust because I promise you I’m in better spiritual shape then I have ever been before. I feel like I could do anything and tell anyone about God. This is the best I’ve ever felt and I feel like God is blessing me more and more because of the changes I have made.

*A faith-based prison is pushed*
WAKITA — This tiny town near the Oklahoma-Kansas state line north of Enid may soon own the country's only all-Christian prison, with Christian administrators, employees, counselors and programs.

The idea is backed by Wakita's leaders, has some support from state officials, and, its founders believe, is able to pass constitutional muster.

"If Chicken Little doesn't come to town, we'll be open in 16 months," said Bill Robinson, the founder of Corrections Concepts Inc., a Dallas nonprofit prison ministry that is spearheading the project.

Mayor Kelly George said officials of this town of 380 were fully behind the project and have done everything they need to make it happen.

A 150-acre site on the edge Wakita has been selected, and an agreement has been reached with Corrections Concepts Inc. to manage the 600-bed prison if and when it is built.

Does George believe the prison will be built?

"We're dealing with politicians here; you tell me," he said.

Robinson said the $42 million project would be financed with bonds.

A bond underwriting company said that if a government jurisdiction will commit to sending 310 inmates at a cost of $42.80 a day, bond sales can begin, and the project can proceed.

Robinson said that in a recent meeting, Justin Jones, the head of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, listed "hoops we have to jump through, and we know we can meet all those requirements."

He said he found that encouraging, but he realizes that it carried no guarantees.

Renee Watkins, the administrator of private prisons and jails for the Department of Corrections, said Corrections Concepts Inc. had presented the project to the agency.

"It's a good concept," she said.

"But as far as us using it, we can't make a commitment at all. We're in a bad position because of budget shortfalls. We're not in the market for private prison beds."

Robinson said that if the Corrections Department does not commit to using the prison, the ministry will seek inmates from other states.

Dwight Bushman, an economic development consultant for Wakita, said he initially favored the project because it would benefit the city. "Now I see it as a benefit to our state as a whole, because we can reduce recidivism," he said.

Brad Mohler, the founder of Reconnect Staffing, an Oklahoma City employment service that assists ex-convicts, is working to build support for the Wakita prison.

He called it a hybrid between state-owned prisons, which are underfunded, and private prisons, whose goal is to produce revenue for stockholders.

"This is a good idea, a concept that hasn't been done yet," Mohler said.

Robinson, himself an ex-con and prison minister, said he had been working for years on the idea of an all-Christian prison, and he had invested $1.3 million so far on construction plans and other expenses.

He said a lot of prisons have faith-based or Christian units, but he knows of none with an all-Christian staff.

"The staff, being all born-again believers, will see this as a mission," he said.

"I want people to understand what it's about. It's about changing criminals into citizens."

The prison would accept only men near the end of their sentences who volunteer to come into the prison and sign an agreement to participate.

They would work full time at private industries that operate inside the prison, get job training, and earn money.

The money would go to support their families, pay restitution to their victims, contribute to their own room and board, and produce a nest egg they can take when they leave prison.

Classes in literacy, General Educational Development requirements and life skills would be offered, and Wayland University, a Christian college in Plainview, Texas, has agreed to put a satellite campus in the prison.

"They don't have to go to church, or Bible study, but they have to participate in the curriculum, which is Christ-centered," Robinson said.

He possesses legal opinions that say that as a religious organization, the prison will be able to hire only people of like faith, he said.

If constitutional challenges arise, he said, the American Center for Law and Justice, a major Christian law firm, has agreed to represent the ministry for free.

"True public safety is to change prisoners into citizens," Robinson said.

"Ninety-eight percent of offenders are going to get out of prison. What kind of offender do you want living next door?"

I've been a practicing pagan since high school, so about 6 or 7 years. i'm not the most devoutly practiced pagan, i haven't obserbed EVERY holiday, i don't ritualistically pray every night or every full moon. but i am a pagan. i believe in multiple gods and goddesses and plenty of other powers that be that we don't understand.

i'm just curious if there are any others of a similar faith on this site.

peace, love, and faith

I found this website on a bands myspace page and it made me laugh a lot.
Anal Sex According to the Word of God (http://www.sexinchrist.com/)
Scroll down to the bottom of the page for links to different sex acts.

---Quote---
There is nothing in the Scriptures that prohibits a man from swallowing his own semen if he so chooses. In fact, this is an ideal solution for avoiding the sin of “spilling seed” if the female partner is not willing to swallow, or if the man is masturbating alone. As you point out, there is nothing homosexual about swallowing your own semen because it does not involve having sex with another man. *However, if you do choose to swallow your own ejaculate, be careful not to get any on yourself or your clothes*. The same requirements regarding semen and cleanliness still apply (Leviticus 15:16-17).

I want to hear one logical reason to believe in the existence of an all powerful God. So far no one has ever given me even one irrefutable reason to believe in the existence of God. It would currently seem logical to NOT believe in God since no one has ever presented hard evidence for the existence of one. However maybe this will change? Save me from my sinful life, I am ready to believe! Just give me some proof ;)

Scholars have long debated the exact ethnicity and nationality of Jesus. Recently, at a theological meeting in Rome, scholars had a heated debate on this subject. One by one, they offered their evidence........

*THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS MEXICAN:*
1. His first name was Jesus. 2. He was bilingual. 3. He was always being harassed by the authorities.

But then there were equally good arguments that....
*JESUS WAS BLACK:*
1. He called everybody "brother". 2. He liked Gospel. 3. He couldn't get a fair trial.

But then there were equally good arguments that....
*JESUS WAS JEWISH:*
1. He went into His Father's business. 2. He lived at home until he was over 30. 3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin, and his Mother was sure he was God.

But then there were equally good arguments that....
*JESUS WAS ITALIAN:*
1. He talked with his hands. 2. He had wine with every meal. 3. He used olive oil.

But then there were equally good arguments that....
*JESUS WAS CALIFORNIAN:*
1. He never cut his hair. 2. He walked around barefoot. 3. He started a new religion.

But then there were equally good arguments that....
*JESUS WAS IRISH:*
1. He never got married. 2. He was always telling stories. 3. He loved green pastures.

But perhaps the most compelling evidence....
.* THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS A WOMAN:*
1. He had to feed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was no food. 2. He kept trying to get the message across to a bunch of men who just didn't get it. 3. Even when He was dead, He had to get up because there was more work to do.....
