| Holy fucking shit.... ESPN - Two-time Top Fuel champ Kalitta killed during SuperNationals qualifying - Racing Quote:
The Kalitta family has been into drag racing for decades. Scott Kalitta died tragically in a drag racing accident yesterday during qualifying at Englishtown, NJ yesterday. His motor blew up shortly before the quarter-mile mark. The fire appears to have mangled the parachutes that are used to slow a car down from over 300mph. The car hit a safety trap at the end of the drag strip, dug in and flipped over a fence into a wooded area. Based on reports, it's very possible that he was unconscious or possibly already dead by the time the car hit the safety trap. These cars do have brakes, but the video shows that he wasn't slowing down at all. It's estimated that he hit the trap at about 200mph. R.I.P Scott Kalitta. You died doing what you loved. Understand that this video is disturbing. It is a fiery, violent drag racing accident and could certainly be classified as a "snuff film". The first is a clip from ESPN and the second is from a fan at the event.....

| Definitely a sad day. I always get a little more teary-eyed watching the tough racing guys get emotional when things like this happen. It's a calculated risk they all take because they love what they do, and that's such a close-knit community it just hits hard. I'm definitely including his wife, two boys, and the rest of the family in my prayers.
