Well, the Olympic Games are almost here. I've always been into the Games. I tend to get a little tired off all the filler, feel good stories sometimes though. That 41 yr. old female swimmer (Torres, I believe) is a pretty cool one though. I just like to see the different countries competing. I like to root for the countries ( or at least the competitor)
that have only one or two athletes, the underdogs.

Anyone else interested? Remember the days when breaking the 100m dash was big news? It was just broken and no seemed to care.

Will the USA win back the gold in basketball or will Argentina take'em out.

Do you care if someone from the USA plays for another country or vice versa.
There is a girl (Becky Hammond, I believe) who became a Russian citizen to play in their league and for them in the Olympics and getting paid quite well for it. I think (unless you have family ties or maybe other legitimate reasons) you play for the country from which you are from, but none of this paying for players crap. To me it kinda ruins the integrity of the games.

Or are you boycotting?

What are your favorite events. I always like to watch the track and field events, but it never seems like they show the field events that much. The boxing events are defintely one of my favorites also,and of course swimming/diving and baseball. Beach Volleyball defintely needs to go.

How does your country do on telecasting the Olympics? Would you rather see all the events live or taped and edited for primetime ( with filler and fluff). I think NBC (USA) does a pretty good job for the most part. A little more coverage on the lesser seen events would be nice.

Also I will be doing some Bookie Events on the Olympics in the next few days. So, if you have any ideas or suggestions, please post 'em.

I'm definitely interested.

I used to be a competetive swimmer, and with the potential for Michael Phelps to break Mark Spitz' 36 year old record for the most golds at a single Olympic games, that's going to be fun to watch.
I'll also watch as much of the cycling events as I can, because I just think it's cool. BMX is now an Olympic cycling discipline, so I'll want to see that for the first time.

There are a few other events I'll watch. Some gymnastics, diving, sailing...

I'll probably catch a bit of it here-and-there. Being Canadian, I am naturally more interested by the winter Olympics where we fair better than the summer Olympics, and I find the events generally more interesting, etc.
I'll definitely be watching some of the soccer games, yet I expect them not to match up to the caliber of the Euro 08 games.. however, I have heard that Ronaldinho will be playing on the Brazilian side, so that will be interesting.
Very well. CBC shows Olympic coverage pretty much 24/7 during the Olympics. They replay the same stuff sometimes, which can be a tad annoying.. but yeah, there's a lot of coverage from the opening ceremonies to the closing.

I'm looking forward to the Bookie events and dropping some grams
