| Who owns this? Just gave it a rent, I'm liking the pace of it. It's one of those games you can take slow and see everything, or rush through for a more action oriented experience. I've always been a fan of the RE series, 4 being the best and the one that pulled me in completely. What are your guy's opinions on this game (or any RE for that matter)?

| Resident evil 5 is the first one I've played but its awesome. One of my friends would always talk about resident evil 4 at school and i'd just be like 'ya so wat it cant be that good' but they're great games.

| My dad and I have always been huge fans of the RE series. We have pretty much all of the games, and I'm looking to get 5 for my dad for father's day. It's good to hear that RE5 is getting good reviews as well ![]()

| I myself have never been a big fan of the Resident Evil series. I love the story line, but the gameplay kills me. I hate games that switch between first and third person, especially shooters. I've played RE 3 & 4. Anon |

| Really An0n? I usually find the gameplay to be the seller, neither 4 or 5 have a compelling story IMO. |

| I love Resident Evil. To be quite honest, I never played RE4(Until a couple days ago). I figure I'll be playing RE5 soon, and I might as well catch RE4 first to compare. So far 4 is an excellent Resident Evil. I've played the demo of 5 and read a lot about it. For the people who are experiencing Resident Evil for the first time with this one, this is a pretty big change for the series. The game is a lot more action oriented than in games past, which depending on your style, can be good or bad. The only thing I miss in RE4, and I KNOW I'll miss in RE5, is my lonely, dark, quiet corridors with camera angles made to frighten the living shit out of you. I loved the city settings in the early RE games, they gave it so much more of a scare factor. Some camera angles were horrible I admit, but some were downright scary to walk into, knowing there might be a zombie in a corner you can't adjust your camera too. Being trapped in a room with zombies busting out all the windows was one of the best playstation experiences I've had. Although it's still somewhat there in the newer Resident Evil's, it's just not the same ![]() Maybe I'll give a better review of 5 once i play it, but dammit Resident Evil, take me back to the city!

| RE5 was good, but not great. There were a couple of probelms: 1) Too repeatative. Basically you went through an area, killed enemies, did an easy ass puzzle, and watch a cut scene. Then repeat OVER AND OVER again. You had the same weapons, the same partner, and for the most part, the same enemies. 2) It was not scary. The one thing RE is meant to do is SCARE. RE4, even though it was mainly an action adventure game, still scared the shit out of me. The gritty graphics, dark atmosphere and crazy ass enemies were still fucking scary as shit. I nearly shit my pants when I got up to the regenerator part. In RE5, everything is sooo shiny that it's kind of welcoming, you have a partner the ENTIRE FUCKING WAY, which always means there's someone to watch your back, and the enemies never switch up, it's always those black guys the entire way through, maybe a dog and shit every now and then. 3) The story fucking sucked dick. JESUS the story is bad; I know that RE is not known for its Oscar-worthy story telling, but damn this was pathetic. Usually I would like long cut scenes with crazy action that wraps up a big story arc (see: MGS4), but the acting was so terrible I couldn't even enjoy it. Plus, the game actually took itself seriously, which is another thing RE4 had over it: RE4 had a sense of humor. The story wasn't great in RE4 either but at least RE4 was making fun of itself. RE4 was campy and humorous, which worked REALLY well in juxtaposition to the scary atmosphere. RE5 took itself faaar too seriously, like it was some epic finale to one of the best stories ever (see: MGS4). 4) Shitty menu system/varying difficulty: The item system in RE4 was genius, it let you take a break when you wanted to switch weapons, or more importantly, combine/use health items, but in this game you have to do it in real time. It's good that you can use the Dpad to switch weapons, but whenever I'm surrounded by enemies and want to use a health item, I gotta run away, press Y, move to the health item, select it, and use it, and hope that I can heal myself before the enemies show up. Plus, you can't trade items from your menu to your partners, you have to exchange one item from your partner's menu to your menu. You can't combine stuff your partner has, and some things like grenades you can give your partner without having to open the menu, so if you happen to press the wrong button when you have the grenades equiped you'd end up giving it to your partner (sometimes at a very bad time). Also sometimes you'd have sooo much freakin ammo, while other times you'd basically have no ammo whatsoever. The game is good, but like it said, not amazing. It seemed to regress from RE4, either by taking a good thing out or just the fact that it had the feeling of "I've played that before" RE4 was more fresh, and RE4 is still more fun, in basically every possible way. |
