Hi everyone ! I have been playing allot of Halo for the last year and a half .
I use the name Kill Tactic . After playing Halo every day for around 1 or 2 hours a day , my right hand (mouse hand ) started going numb. The numbness normally last around 20 or 30 seconds and radiates through my index finger & thumb & pinky . After visiting the doctor I was told it was more than likely Carpel Tunnel Syndrome ( an occurrence that happens from repetitive motion with the hands and wrists ) It happens allot to people that use computers frequently ( playing games, typing, etc etc ) I'm mostly bumbed because the Doc told me not to play Halo anymore . I love playing halo.
I was wondering if a game joystick works as well as the keyboards with games like halo , as I cannot use the mouse like that anymore do to my Carpel Tunnel . Any info , or similar stories out there ?

Man that sucks ass if i make fun of you ill probably get carpels so i feel for you. Ask the doctor if marijuana helps!

learn to use the mouse with your other hand

a joystick could be used, it would take a while to get used to... but for speed and accuracy nothing beats the good old mouse/keyboard combo

Would a trackball rather than a mouse help you out at all? I would suggest hitting up a few gaming message boards (I'm sure there's tons of em around out there) and asking them for suggestions. I'm sure there are plenty of people that have similar problems. Good luck, though, and hope you find a good solution!

uh i got CT too, it sucks but if you get your chair up so your arm is level with your desk it helps, and lotza padding, and get a good mouse, i use a logitec MX510 on level 10 sensitivity so i dont have to move it more then a few inches back and forth. so i really just use my fingers more then my wrist

haha, look on the bright side. Now you have a reason to use mediacal MJ!

now you can be stoned all the time, and since the pain will be gone you can play halo all day long.

Thank's for all the replies ! I started using the mouse with my left hand for now , but it's real hard getting use to . I think I'll just have to lay off playing Halo for a while and give my hand a brake . the doctor gave me a wrist brace to where , it Keeps your wrist straight . He said to where it at night also because there was a chance I was sleeping on my wrist funny . I've been wearing it now for around five days . The numbness still occurs , but it seems like not as much now .
