although i am not a MMORPG veteran, i played everquest for several years (from the beginning, before they messed it up.. i quit shortly after luclin was released). sitting in one spot pulling a single monster for you group to kill and get a tiny amount of experience and on rare occasions some loot to be split between 6+ people lost its appeal after i reached lvl 60 in everquest on two characters (pre-luclin) getting my epic weapons took months for my cleric, and the rogue epic was pretty hard to attain also.
i also tried FFXI, and quickly lost interest

but i am hooked on guild wars! it is simply amazing, and free of the exp grind. not only are the environments astonishing, but the gameplay is what all mmorpgs should strive for- fun!


guild wars allows your group to take on several monsters, or other players. the action is fast-paced and free of annoying corpse runs, and long-ass camps that may not even pay off.

guild wars kicks ass because there's no monthly fee, and the pvp is off the hook. also, it's much easier to find a stopping point to log off, so you don't feel obligated to play all night just because your group will be disadvantaged if you leave. the zoning times and lag are also not a problem, because you can zone in just a couple seconds and lag generally doesn't affect the gameplay.

i have a monk/mesmer- "hairy nugz" and a warrior/elementalist "roller of jays"

Yes, this is a very fun game. Sadly I've beaten it and awaiting the first expansion.

It's like a mix between WoW and Diablo.

I love being able to hop on, kick some ass in PVP, and quit.

I already beat the game and am having fun testing new pvp char combos and helping people out in my guild with my primary in the rpg areas.

Never played Guild Wars but will definately look into it. Lately I've been more into the FPS like Call of Duty and HL2, and am anxiously awaiting the release of BF2.

Personally, I could not get into the game no matter how hard I tried. the start of it... Is rather boring? And I have spent numerous hours playing it, trying my best to capture the hype that this game has received in the many reviews I have read about this game.

The quest system, for any beginner, or perhaps it's just me... but the quest system is horribly puzzling. I found myself asking players to take me through required quests, and quests for spells and such... VERY OFTEN. And when I happened to finish those quests, nothing special happened. I was extremely dissapointed and quite frustrated after spending about 15 hours doing annoying quests, killing, and adventuring... I never knew what quests to seek out. A few players referred me to a few Guildwars-online guides... but I figured, if this game is so unorganized to not point out main quests, or even side quests... then it's not worth my damn time.

I too was an Everquest player, back when I was I believe oh.... 14-15. Had all the expansions to the one expnsion where you download for money... "The frog expansion"... Personally, I loved the game and it was incredibly time consuming, addicting. Soemthing I enjoyed nonetheless.

guildwars never posed that possibility to me ONCE. I hate the damn thing.
