anyone ever play high hold em? I feel like i play so much better when i'm baked because i get too paranoid and freaked out on mediocre hands. anyone elses thoughts?

Haha I played poker high at my boss' house (his dad is a hotshot seattle PD cop and was there the whole time, very frightening!) and I ended up making a few dollars but I was no means playing well. I couldn't concentrate for shit!

Yep, played poker with a buzz on a regular basis. Personally I feel it has its advantages. I focus better, I am able to tune into the game and tuneout other things. It calms my nerves while playing as well. Drinkings a different story all together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However people respond differently to weed and it may affect you adversely, some seem to become somewhat airheaded and unable to cope with the mental aspects of the game when stoned.

im actually really good at poker straight but i when i get nutty i suck. i make extremely dumb calls and bets my advice is dont do it unless its for fun and not money.

I've worked in the casino business for about 18 years, I was dealer and later a casino boss. My expert opinion, and this is one of the very few things I am an expert on, you never want to be stoned or drunk while seriously gambling. I know all the old great poker player personally from my business, on the tables, they just drink coffee, and a lot do speed. The best drink water, or drinks so watered down they dont buzz you. A common trick for casino regulars is to fake being a bit drunk to convince the tourists you're betting stupid then suck them in on a big hand. I know a lot of people think weed enhances their abilities, maybe in snowboarding, I dont think so as far as gambling. Just because you got lucky while stoned doesn't mean you play well. There's no accounting for luck.

I don't do serious gambling sober nevermind stoned. I just play 5 or 10 dollar tourneys. Just for fun.

I almost always win when I play online poker high.....it totally focuses my attention on the game, and I agree with the guy who said it makes you a bit more paranoid about marginal hands.....

I would suggest that everybody try at least once if they play online. You don't notice the time between hands as much, and when you're making decisions, I swear it makes you a smarter player......
