I'm looking to buy a good single player game to waste a little bit of time.

I don't care if its a shooter, a puzzle game, adventure game, whatever, just something with a story line that's a genuinely good play.

Super Smash Brothers.
Rouge Squadron (any of 'em).
Street (if you like sports games).

I had Super Smash Brothers but it just wasn't my style. I'm more of a Mortal Kombat type. Not to into sports game, but I am a Star Wars fan, so thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out.

If you're a star wars fan, I can't think of any single game that rivals rouge squadron.

Also, buy used, and buy from game stop. Then, just exchange it within 7 days if you don't like it. Or, the local one here encourages it as kind of a rental program... just every 7th day, go in and change out games. I do it and only end up buying about one game every three months. It's more than I would buy otherwise (if I couldn't try them out before hand, essensially) .

Pickman is the shit, its a puzzle type game, if you like sports SSX tricky rocks too

Pikmin was so fun back in the day. The Pikmin touched my heart man they were so small and they died so much.

Madden is always a good time waster too.

I went to Gamestop and was pretty interested in Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes or whatever it's called, it was 25 bucks so I went next door to an independently owned game store and found it for 15. Looks pretty sweet.

Best and one of the only games I would play on gamecube was Resident Evil (4 I believe). My god that was a good game, it literally rivals many ps3 games. Don't ask me how, but it's just an amazing game. I think it also got the highest gamecube game score on IGN for overall ratings. Loads of fun!
