| Have any of you Wii owners picked this up yet? If not, do it now, it is a god damn incredible game. I know I haven't participated much, but I feel like the gaming industry has been stagnating for the past few years. Seems like every other game is a first-person shooter that's set during a war or a post-apocalyptic setting. Then you have a sizable chunk dedicated to worthless and embarrassing adaptations of the latest blockbuster hit. More and more companies are pushing for better graphics, upping the price of their game consoles. Games now have a budget close to movies, and imitate movies, and have movie stars playing the voices. It's like improving all the superficial qualities of games has become the goal, when all the strength that's really needed for a great game comes from incredibly addictive gameplay. Not to say that Mario Galaxy's graphics are ugly. They aren't as good as what you'll see on PS3 or X-Box 360, but there are still truly breathtaking moments in the game, like doing a long jump off the edge of the planet and orbiting it before finally hitting the ground. Or flying through the air and doing a spin when a star comes by, so you can be shot around like a cannon to other distance planets. It goes without saying that this game is best played while powerfully stoned. I really can't praise this game enough. It, hands-down, is the most imaginative, enjoyable, engrossing games I've played in years. I could have played for hours if I didn't have to go to the grocery store before it closes. This is the kind of game I've been looking for to help renew my interest in games in general. I could easily see this up there with the best platformers ever made, such as Banjo-Kazooie and Mario 64, and see myself returning to it for years to come. Truly incredible game.

I also believe that future historians will look at this epoch and recognize it as another instance of the 'madness of crowds.'" ~Dr. Lester Grinspoon |
