NES - Super Mario Bros. 3

SNES - Donkey Kong Country

Genesis - Sonic the Hedgehog 2

N64 - LOZ: Ocarina of Time (Master Quest for GC is also sick)

PS1 - Final Fantasy 8

Dreamcast - Sonic Adventure (GC Director's Cut is just as good)

Xbox - Knights of the Old Republic (PC version is just as good)

PS2 - Metal Gear Solid 3 (Honorable mention to Black as it is the most visceral and shortest FPS ever)

Gamecube - Resident Evil 4

Wii - God, this system is a joke.

PC - Half-Life 2

Xbox360 - Bioshock (Can't wait for it to come to PS3)

PS3 - Metal Gear Solid 4 (Even though I just beat GTA4 and I didn't even pick this game up yet, i think its a safe bet)

So there you go, in my opinion you absolutley couldn't go wrong with any of these games.

I just like them (total war) because unlike most other strategies you actually have to use strategy instead of just building up the biggest army and killing everyone.

Yeah, I often see a lot of people putting down the single player in COD4, but I seriously don't know what they're whinging about. Not only was it pretty good. There are so many more such worse options out there.

Audio Surf is my favorite singleplayer game, although COD4 is a close second.

Before I even clicked on this thread, the first thing that came to mind was the Ocarina of Time, although, I think I might like Wind Waker better...Twilight Princess is up there as well...ah hell, I just love em all...YaY for Zelda!

Exactly. Fundamentally it was actually a really good single player game, and yet there are all these people out there who just bitch about how boring it was.

cod4 single player was far from boring. I had that baby playin with surround sound and I was hooked. Screaming at them mother fuckin terrorists and dodgin grenades left and right. One of the few games that really captured me in the moment. So far, the only other one on 360 that has been able to capture me in the moment like that is Bioshock.
