Castigar2000 posted a comment in another thread as to how the reference to ""not being high as being "sober"" is incorrect -

I thought I'd put it out there as a question for us all.
Is there a word that accurately decribes the state of those who are 'unstoned'?

An interesting note (at least to myself) is that when I first started seeing posts here where people used the word 'sober' specific to pot smoking I thought it very odd sounding.
No real sense behind it other than it simply didn't sound right.

Buzzby correctly pointed out, 'sober', as it pertains to getting 'high' is the best we've got, awkward sounding as it is.

I've been racking my brain for a substitution,to come up with an appropriate 'word', but it's not happening.
Anyone?

Not many suggestions, I still think 'sober' fits quite well. Unless, you may prefer 'not f***ed up?'

Whoops. Im stoned as I type this, so I forgot to clarify. I say im cool when im not stoned (cool to drive, cool to help the first time high person trippin balls, etc.)

I asked because when I've had enough and turn down another hit, I'll say, "No, I'm cool." That translates as, "I'm as high as I want to be."

i think sober is a better word. what if you had a stimulating high that made you lucid?

Just because I havent smoked or something dosent mean I'm sober. Being sober for me really means being alert and consciously awake, whereas if I'm walking around unattentively I'm not really sober.

Yeah, I use that phrase for the same purpose often.

I've always hated seeing the word 'sober' in the context of not being under the influence of Marijuana!

I've always associated that word with drink.

Maybe a word like 'noned' (hard 'o', meaning 'not-stoned'), or 'nigh' (rhymes with fly, and means 'not high') would work better!

"Man, I've never been noned/nigh for this long!"
