I'm just kind of curious to know if you guys notice the same thing as I do. I've had this thought in my head for a while now:

It seems to me that, speaking casually (not calling it marijuana), smokers tend to use the term "weed" and non-smokers seem to use the term "pot".

I mean, me and all my friends who smoke, random smokers I've hung out with, people on these boards, we call it weed. But my brother who doesn't smoke, police, newscasters, friends that don't smoke, they call it pot.

Is this just me and the group of people I know or do you guys notice it too?

The two seem to be used interchangeably by smokers, where I live.
Just don't call it "grass". Only narcs do that.

I've heard both terms used too, but weed more than pot.

As one who has been smoking since the early 60's,
I can tell you that the prevailing terminology in those days (and long thereafter) was grass, pot & reefer.
I still use those terms (as do many of my peers) if for no other reason than they represent such fond memories of that golden age, especially in California...

I call it weed, my parents call it pot (whenever it is that they refer to it...) or if im talking about it i will just call it "good shit" and my friends will know what im talking abt

Good point, Sterbo, I never thought of that. Maybe it's more of an age thing. My brother would be an exception if that was the case, but then again, he's pretty naive about any drugs and basically regurgitates everything the older folks (who, in the age case, use the term "pot") tell him.

I've actually been calling it "Pot" lately, only because my best smoking buddy calls it that, and I think it's rubbed off on me...
But most of the people my age that I know call it "Weed"
My mom calls it "Pot" and my dad calls it "Herb", haha


I don't think it really makes a difference, to be honest.

I completely feel the same way. Also, not only do the non-smokers refer to it as Pot back where I lived, but the non-smokers who think it's "THE DEVIL'S HERBBBBBB"
