Maybe its just me, but the term 'pot' sounds kind of derogatory. In the world of weed, that is.

Which would you rather your friend say about you? That 'he smokes weed/marijuana', or 'he smokes pot'....it just makes it sound like you're some dumbass who happened to score some 'pot' and is smoking it...

I don't use the word 'pot' because it sounds really awkward to me... like some old slang such as 'nuge'.

Yeah...... I do find the word pot' degrading. Mostly because I think of it as a word that only old people who are against it use. I almost never hear a stoner call it pot, atleast where am from.

i never use the words pot or weed when talkin about marijuana cause it is preety negative. i always use the word "herb" because thats what its called in the bible.

I tend to float along the cultural currents - if everyone I know calls it pot, so do I. If they have all switched to calling it weed, I'm cool with that too. 'Marijuana' isn't actually the name of the plant, either - it's what the Mexicans called it in the southwest and Mexico. Language functions by agreement - I agree I like consuming the mature flowers of cannabis - call it what you like.

pot can be used in a derogatory way, but i don't mind being labelled a "pothead". i can tell most of the time when someone is using it in a bad way and in most of those cases i just ignore it. i don't really care what people think of me, i have a positive image of myself and thats all that really matters

I find the word "dope" demeaning. Like "I think that kid's on dope!!!" So bad.

I find it aggravating how non-users (specifically people who have never tried the substance) usually happen to always say "Dont you know he smokes pot?" / "Pot-head!" etc. or "Dope." whatever.
...and all they actually know of this marvellous type of plant is what their non-marijuana using teachers have told them, or advertisements comparing all drugs (marijuana, cr@ck, and morph\ne- all juxtaposed and compared as if they were the same substance with the same effects, levels of addictiveness, how they will all lead to a filthy lifestyle and ruin your dreams, motivation, aspirations.

Yes, quite angering indeed.

I use 'pot' on these boards a lot because it's short and sweet.

If I need to say marijuana I'll just say MJ (you guys know I don't mean Jordan, right?)

If I'm debating some poor soul who hasn't seen the light I might use 'cannabis' - usually they don't have a negative mental reaction to that word.

In RL... I dunno.... stuff, sh*t, goodies, smoke, etc... usually I only talk about it with other smokers and it isn't too hard to get my point across.
