sometimes when im with people who are smoking (from a bong), especially if the bowl is cashed, theyll turn it upside down and hit it, with the bowl held up to the park where you put the step in (im talking about bongs with pull carbs).

why do they do that?

yep, its just the easiest way to get ash out of a cashed bowl.

so essentially they are ashing in the water? wouldn't you want to change your water more frequently then, cause your hits would taste like ass. plus maybe you could get a few good res hits off of the pipe on the head piece that goes into the water if you hit it upside down like that.

Well if you dont change your water a lot, your hits are gonna taste like ass anyway. You can get really good res hits of the stem. With a stem though most people scrape the res, instead of just hitting it the way you would do with a bowl.

yeah I have a pull out bowl on my water bong and I do that.
