Aluminum would work, but unless it's flame resistant foil and not the normal kind that we all buy in America, it's going to be bad. If they did what SkyHigh_28 said, then it's possible, maybe. But if it's Reynolds Aluminum Foil, it will give the above results.

I have read most the post here and it seems that the gravity bong has been excluded from the many mentioned smoking methods. Since this is my prefered method of smoking i will let yall in on what seem to most an unkown smoking medium. The principles behind the device are quite simple as most great things are. The easiest way i know to make one is to find a container you can fill with water, a plastic waste basket work, or a bucket. The next part depends on your smoking prefrence, you can use a two litter(thats what i use) or a twenty ounce if you dont like taking huge hits. You remove the bottom of your bottle, next take that and place it in the container with your water, you should have something that looks like this.

Next thing you need is the bowl, these are easy to make using the cap from the top of the bottle. Go to you local head shop and buy a metal bowl, these are pretty cheap and will last you as long as you have it. Take a drill and drill a hole close to the width of the threads on the bottom of the bowl where it would screw into a pipe and bingo, your ready to get really, really high.

Or, instead of using a metal bowlpiece, you can buy a glass bong bowlpiece and set it into the hole you drilled. The bowlpiece ought to come with a rubber o-ring to help seal it all up nice and solid. I have a gravity bong bowl with the cap on it read to go in my aresenal. All I need when im out and about is a bottle with the same sized cap (pretty universal among those big juice and gatorade bottles) and a bucket or trash can of water!

it does pretty much cover everything, but as a newb smoker myself, i recently learned something that would explain y i havent gotten high yet............. as stupid and obvious as it may sound, make sure you inhale properly. if you dont inhale properly, youll "top shelf", which is when the smoke doesnt go all the way to your lungs. a good way to perfect your inhale is to take a placebo smoke and puff, but make sure that afer each puff you can hold your breathe with your mouth open without smoke escaping. this means it went all the way to your lungs.

In my beginning days of smoking i didnt have a piece, so i always used to smoke out of a can. You would flatten one side poke holes in it..load the weed on, put a carb on the bowl. Are soda cans made of aluminum, therefore unsafe as well?

glass pieces are definatly the best way to smoke..cans make ur hits harsh, and after longtime use it could do **** to ur lungs

About the aluminum foil + hookah thing, what I think they mean by using it is USING THE FOIL AS A REPLACEMENT FOR THE METAL ASH CATCHER/RECEIVER THAT IS UNDER THE BOWL ITSELF, most hookahs already come with their own wooden/glass bowl pieces.

The debate of whether or not aluminium is a potential factor in alzhiemers disease has long been debated. However the overwhelming bulk of scientific data seems it indcate that aluminium (one of the most plentiful metals on earth) is not a factor in alzhiemers. However this should not indicate that smoking from pop cans is okay, because pop cans have a coating of wax or plastic on the inside. Oh and you forgot to mention dugouts check it out on the methodes board under the marijuana.com forums (the simple dugout) might want to run a search, cause it's probably way down the list by now.
