It's usually only my freind and I who smoke from my pipes. We just take a green hit each, on the "corner" of the bowl, then milk that side until it's cashed, and then move to another green spot.

The person who owns the bud gets the first hit, the greens. If he hits all of the greens, it's his bud so noone should have the right to feel angry about it. It's their bud, respect that they are sharing/matching. Some times the owner of the bud lets you take the first hit. No scorching, because you need to respect that he is letting you take the first, probably one of the strongest hit of the bowl. Other than that, we don't have any rules. We don't like to get too "almighty ruler" on everyone, as it can ruin the overall mood of everyone, or just individuals... At leat this applies to the first hit. Plus we're smoking pot to chill, not have a rule infested circle group of rule focused potheads. Besides, how does one even remember to enforce all of those rules when stoned lol.

Here are the rules of my sessions:

1. If it's your bud being packed, you get first hit, unless you give it to someone else.

2. If you say you're going to pack a bowl, and it doesn't make it all the way around the circle, you pack another. You can take the first hit, and then pass it to the person who got the ass hit of the previous bowl, or you can give them the first hit.

3. If it's someone else's brand new piece, even if it's your weed, they get first hit.

4. If you pack the bowl, it's you're choice which way you pass it, although we almost always pass it left.

5. If you fill the bong with smoke, you clear ALL OF IT. If you absolutely can't clear all of it, then you blow out the smoke. You never pass it to someone with stale smoke in it. Or, if you can't clear it, and it's not stale yet, you can offer it to the next person in the circle, although they still get a hit when you pass it to them.

That's about it. When I have the green hit, I only take a quarter of the green, this way 3 more people can get a green hit.

I like pretty much all of these rules except when I'm in a group of just 3 or so we usually try and keep it passing left, but if someone is busy and misses a turn or something its easy enough to screw up the rotation and pass right, skip, whatever. So basically pass left, but i never get bent out of shape if the rotation gets a little screwed up as long as its not a bigger circle (5 or more), cuz then you have already waited long enough for another hit and there is a chance someone could get lost in the rotation.

And always try and save some greens for the next guy. Also, whoever's bud it is gets first hit or first choice of where the circle starts, and in my opinion, is aloud to take control of the piece and let whomever he wants get whatever turn they want. I.E. if a real good friend comes to the session the owner of the bud can take the pipe from the next guy and start it again with this new friend. This is something that should not be done often though, but if someone gets pissed the bud-holder can tell them to piss off, but you would have to be a jerk anyway to get pissed off for being smoked out, no matter how messed up the circle is. Just my 2 cents.

Also (lol, 2nd edit), i think owner of bud takes presidence over owner of piece...UNLESS it is a new piece, etc... Where the owner of bud would most likely let them have first hit of their new piece no matter what, even if it was a complete stranger.


Another comment on joints: I think that the person who's weed it is should get to light it and smoke it regardless of who rolls. The roller taking first hit makes no sense to me, its not like its that hard to roll, but weed costs money. I guess if its my weed i will generally roll... One time i had a friend roll for me and it was annoying because he took like 5 minutes sitting there trying to "get it going good", he seriously smoked half of it before he passed...if you're going to do that, it better be your weed, otherwise....all you did was rolled the thing so PASS IT ALREADY!

I guess we're pretty laid back... person who's ganj it is get's first choice, but we usually offer it up to someone else for something unrelated, like if it's been a while since they smoked or if they have something to celebrate or whatever. Sometimes we just give it to someone else to be nice. Usually, though, that's just for first hit of a session. First hit off of a new bowl after the first picks up with the last person to not get a hit in the rotation. We all just believe in sharing the herb, I guess. Although I guess it helps that we don't really care too much about greens anyway.

Agreed, it is best when everyone is chill, and thats how it is with good friends. When randoms come in its another story, a lot of times they are really cool, but everyone has had unwanted annoying kids in their circles before.

The person who rolled the blunt gets to spark it and if the roller is different than the person who's weed it is, the person with the bud gets deuces.

Packer/roller gets choice of first green, they can offer to the weed giver (if its not them). Around my general smoking buddies, if you call back door, you'll probably get it but not with any respect. If I get first hit, its going left. If someone tries to call next hit thats not to my immediate right or left, I'll probably respond with "yeah you'd like that wouldn't you"

That's true, and very important. A lot (not ALL) of newbies that I have smoke with have a tendency to light the whole bowl, take the smallest toke, and the rest gets wasted cause they lit the entire bowl. Gotta learn to corner it, and put your hand/finger over it so it doesn't burn out when no one's tokin.
