I think of a pothead as someone who does nothing but smoke weed all day and has no cares about anything. Like my former roomate, he dropped out of school, quit paying cable and internet bills, and basically quit going to work just because he wanted to smoke and "play" guitar all the time. To me it sounded like he was abusing the guitar on the highest volume setting.

Don't get me wrong I like to smoke a lot more than I should but I am a stoner, a toker, a chiefer, you name it, but not a pothead. If I have class then I won't smoke the entire day until I'm done with class and homework. If I have to work I'll be sober when I come in and sober when I leave. But on my day off when I don't have any responsibility I'll smoke like seven bowls in one day. I'll drop whatever I'm doing and deal with some stress to go get a sack if I'm getting low just so I don't run out. BUT school, work, and general responsibilities have to come first in order for me to enjoy myself when I smoke. It's almost like a reward for some hard work so it makes it even better.

I perfer to be called a stoner. But I don't really see "potheads" as those do-nothings.

I don't like being called a stoner. I don't even like to be called a pothead, but I prefer it over stoner. When someone calls me a stoner I picture myself burned out, fat, and burning up a trillionth bowl. XD

I just call myself a pothead cuz it sounds good.But I like Marijuana Enthusiast.

I think that pothead is used by non-stoners to degrade herb smokers......

"Oh look, there's a pothead guys! Let's go beat him up!"

I think of it as the same way people use the phrase, "Crackhead." I think it is used to describe a drug user in a derogatory manner. Just like pothead....

I prefer to be called an "Herbalist." Seems to fit a lot better.......

I have warm fuzzy feelings of the word "pothead." Love labeling myself as one too. I got some pot in ma head boys!

Stoners mean, to me at least, the teenage people who smoke their blunts in their cars....

EDIT: Just noticed my post from almost 2 years ago.....that's so weird. I guess it's because I was 16 back then and was closer to being a stoner than I am now!

I agree...I'm really just a marijuana smoker. The names that people pin on us don't really do anybody any good because their respective connotations change depending on who is saying it. Why not just say that you smoke pot? I really don't mind being called either, as long as it is not meant in a negative way (which is hard to tell sometimes, hence my dislike of the terms).
