I've been cheifing it up for like 2 years but I've never heard of the term "matching" till I got to this site. Does it just mean the other person brings the same amount of weed you have and you both smoke it or what?

You've never heard of matching? Matching is were a couple of people contribute a certain amount of weed. For example i'll match two bowl with my friend so both of us are losing the same amount of weed. Matching is used alot when either you dont have alot or your conserving.

You both "kick in" the same amount of weed that you are both sharing. So you both put a relatively equal sized bud in the grinder, and roll a jay with that weed, or back a couple bowls. It can also have a scenerio in which your friend uses their weed to pack a bowl that you both smoke, then you use your weed and you pass it around, and etc, etc, etc.

Everyone else hit the nail on the head, but I'll throw in something too.

If two people throw in the same amount for a sack, and they want to smoke as soon as they get it (and why wouldn't they?), it's easier to match by smoking what you smoke out of the big bag, and then dividing it.
