so i taking resin hits (dont ask, i dont even know why) from my glass pipe. I was scrapping the side of the bowl and hitting it, one hit i noticed the hole in the bowlpiece got bigger, like as if a chunk of resin from a while ago was just stuck there. as i noticed the hole i went ahead and took another hit, as i hit it again i noticed cherries under the bowl in the glass pipe sparking up, i felt the burn in my throat and held it for a few seconds and blew at a fat cloud as if from a decent sized bong toke or a fat blunt rip you know?

the question is, what was it that cherried up and created all that smoke? ash and resin from many many bowls before?

im pretty high right now just from very very (can barley see smoke blow out) resin hits (2-3), and that fat myster toke.

Well what you are describing sounds almost like an off topic drug that can be smoked from the inside of a pipe. It isnt put in the bowl, rather put on the glass and the lighter is put on the other side of the glass to conduct heat and create smoke. This is a very bad drug.

It is most likely just a bunch of weed resin, but if you are not sure of the bowls origin, its possible that it is residue from another drug.

If you dont know what is in it, i would suggest cleaning it or even getting rid of it (unless you like that sort of thing). If you know its only weed, smoke away.

The reason i know this is because my friend got a bowl from a hard drug user and was explaining exactly the same thing you were from the resin he smoked from it. I saw him hit it and it didnt look quite right and he was taking way to big of hits for it be only weed resin.

I'd relax about it as long as nobody has been smoking unmentionables in it. I used to do this all of the time, and I made gigantic, thick clouds of smoke most of the time... Eventually the tar will all burn in the specific spot the flame's touching, and you won't get much/if any smoke from it, clearly indicating the tar is gone. OR, that's what happened for me... Because I'd smoke it till it's gone, poke inside a lil and smoke more... But you might not go as hard on it, just saying...

On the occasion that I smoke resin I can get pretty good sized hits off of it. And yes, resin can cherry if there is enough of it. But like steakii said there is no way of knowing where the resin came from unless its your bowl.

Well man, sounds like weed resin to me.

As long as no other drugs have been smoked in your pipe, its almost certainly resin.

actually i think its a very good thing to smoke this resin (as they said only if its resin from the herb or drug of your choice)

to be honest this isnt as peasont of a smoke as the marijuana but it is a very good way to catch a high, i smoke out of my bowl atleast 3 bowls a day, (3/4 " deep and 1/4" wide glass bowl or so) and i can have a good siting and produce larges amount of smoke about every 3 days

personaly after i smoke some resin hits ill clean the bowl so that the ash doesnt build up to much inside

alcohol and salt works wonders for this or 420which is bought at most head shops

I wouldn't smoke out of this pipe again if I were. These sort of things happened to me without consequence for the longest time. However, lately when I went to the headshop to get glass screens for the same reason I mentioned the problem. The guy at the shop immediately told me that I should no longer use the piece if the part broken receives direct heat. I cannot remember the exact terms he used but basically he said that the pipe is "finalized" with some heating process that is toxic. Now, when the glass is broken it exposes edges that weren't previously treated and thus the "finilizing" process is conducted on them which creates noxious and poisonous gasesses that cause brain damage.

Now, I am certainly not an expert, and I definitely can't even remember the term he used. I was high while I was there of course. But, I would think about reinvesting in another pipe so as to avoid the small chance of giving yourself even more brain damage!

Also, to answer your originial question I will ask another. What kind of weed do you normally smoke out of your pieces? I usually smoke nothing but high quality dank and I get the same thing when I hit resin. It's basically just the resin heating up and burning much the same way your weed does. The embers are nothing to worry about, the broken glass on the inside of your bowl is.

Boy this thread turned out to be something major from the seemingly simple question you asked. I've resin hi my pipe many times, and was actually planning on doing it now, but many times does the bottom of the bowl glow red from the resin. Now nothing ever fell into the bowl itself, but it still glows red. When I first hit it I can usually manage to blow out a decent amount of smoke. But after that I hardly blow out any (if any AT ALL), I still feel it so I'm pretty sure I'm getting some but just at such a slow pace that by the time I exhale there's not much to see. I always still feel at least somewhat high, maybe I am, maybe its a placebo effect. I don't care either way honestly.
