hey firstly im new here so hi
now to the point
me and my mate just got a hand pipe each and were wondering if there were any particular techniques and how to get the full advantage of using both resin and pot

Well lets see...
1: Place broken-up bud into the bowl of the pipe. Make sure there is a screen or a rock in there so ash doesnt fly into your mouth.
2: Light lighter. Hold flame to bud and inhale until bud burns. Keep inhaling!
3: Hold for 3 seconds then exhale. Pass the pipe to a friend and repeat steps one and two.

and as for resin keep smoking out of the bowl
after a while u'll see the resin
then smoke the resin when ur dry

yes first i would like to say im new here and hello.

and yes save the resin till you are dry so you have something to smoke.

hey there. i just recently bought a pipe too, and i have never smoked out of one until the other day, and i got shitloads of ash in my mouth--definitely not an enjoyable smot poking experience! you mentioned to put in a screen or rock in it? how do i go about it?

Heh, man you need to either pack the bud down a bit tighter, or go look in your faucet for a screen; but only if you really cant find any others.Also don't be a vacuum lung; just hit it easy and slow, and that will A. keep the air from breaking the ash/bud apart ; and B. the smoke wont be as hot and harsh on your throat.
