Ok ive made my own pipe (see my other thread) and ive been in serch of a nice glass piece. When i was checking out some spoons i noticed that some had a purposely drilled hole on the side of the bowl, could someone please explain what this is for?

It's called a carb. When you are inhaling smoke put a finger over it so no air can get in when your finished take your finger off while inhaling to get a whiff of fresh air in.

that last bit you inhale, with you finger off the carb, will allow you to clear the pipe of all smoke still remaining, as well as getting a good jolt of fresh air!!

I've always referred to that hole as a power hit.

Also, if you havn't already made your purchase you may want to look at some chillums. I just bought a nice, blue color themed pyrex chillum for $30.

I've never enjoyed a hand piece as much as this. Something about the way you smoke it, I absolutely love it.

FYI, if you didn't know a Chillum is a breed between a one hit and a pipe. It's bowl is pretty big like a pipe, and is designed like a pipe, but it works like a one hitter.

carbs are wonderful things, i have a steamroller which is a bowl on top of a tube, you hold your hand on one end of the tube and inhale from the other, then take your hand off just like a carb, so its basically i supercarb, its wonderful

Around here (Grand Rapids) we call it a shot gun what you do is when your sucking in the smoke and the pipe is all full take your thumb off the shotgun and it all shoots into your lungs .
