Whats so good about a glass pipe? If you have to ask, then your not a stoner! Haha... and you said you've only been smoking for 3 or 4 months... after you've been smoking for a long time, you'll understand why glass pipes are "so good"

If I am right (which I always am), glass and water are the two most inert materials in the world, which means they do not react chemically with almost all other materials. Adding water to any chemical 99.9% of the time makes it less potent (a good example would be acid), glass is used to house the worlds most powerful acids because it will not erode or dissolve. Glass can be heated to extremes and will not give off fumes, at the molecular level, even metal pipes are burned at the surface and release gases.

It depends what you are looking for. I like wooden, or what I have currently, clay. It's usually a lot harsher than glass and with the ones I have used from wood or clay, the smoke rushes in on you with little effort. With glass, it's not as harsh. It takes some lung work to get the smoke in, so it takes longer. If you can't take as deep of a hit as most, and are prone to excessive coughing and sore throats afterwards, go with glass or better yet a waterpipe (not bong). If you can handle more and like a little bit of kick, go with wood. Or, like I'm doing, clay.

The design of the pipe has MUCH more to do with the type hits you are getting than the material the pipe is made from. If you take two identical pipes, one made of glass, the other of clay, the clay pipe WILL NOT outperform the glass, nor will you get bigger hits. Pipe design determines the volume of smoke you can pull through it, not the material the pipe is made from

I've always felt like toking out of a glass pipe is cleaner, especially if used with a glass screen.

I'd go with wood anytime, to me glass ones are ugly and just don't feel right in your hand, and It might just be me,but if it isn't cleaned after every sess you can really taste the res and it's unpleasant

Wood affects the taste MUCh more than a bit of resin on the inside of a glass pipe. Don't get wrong, as certain woods actually may add a little something to the flavor, but overall, glass pipes have a MUCH cleaner flavor to them than the typical wood pipe.
