Hello,
So I just got this used piece from my friend, and I decided to clean it. I soaked it in hot water for a little bit. I then took a toothpick and started scraping the inside of my bowl and on the inside, the color of the pipe just started peeling off everytime I scraped it with the toothpick. The pipe originally had ribbon, but I dont know if all the colors just appeared because of the color changing effect because when I scrape it, the glass where there is no ribbon is just clear glass. What happened to my piece?!

listen, all you need is the glass, so just make sure that you don't accidentally break it while cleaning. it can be very easy to break it and get a nasty cut.

actually if its color changing glass then its fine cuz u just scraped teh resin off thuse scraping the color away. But uh dont scrape it clean if i were you i would boil it on my stove. I Boil all my glass peices, dont listen to the people who say the glass wil break it wont. The glass is made with alot more heat then the boiling water puts out


P.S when u boil it the resin will just come out and u have a fresh clean pipe

you put the pipe in the water before its boiling temperature?

its not the heat that breaks the glass, its sudden temperature changes. like going from *70f to *212f in the two seconds it takes to drop the pipe into the boiling water.

So before I went to sleep I let my pipe sink in some cleaner and when I rinsed it out this morning, most of the paint inside the glass + resin was removed, so I guess I didn't ruin my pipe. I'm going to think about boiling it today when my parents aren't home.

after re-reading the entire thead, i can definitely say you have a color changing pipe. no worries, itll change color time and time again. from what ive heard, after the first time, all other times are faster.

Yeah, its fine!! And SDragon is right, they do seem to change faster the more used they get....as in what may have taken 6 bowls to orginally change the color bit will color in more like three...btw....thats just a guesss....each pipe seems to color at a different rate, so the actual numbers won't be right on or anything.....damn I'm stoned this morning!..LOL

since its not been mentioned its worth it i think: from what ive heard when you boil your pipe the smell is REALLY strong in the area so you may wanna make sure youve got plenty of time w/o your parents- open windows and doors and turn on fans to keep smell in kitchen then out the door.
