its only toxic if it unanodized however all aluminum pipes you buy are anodized but all metal will taste funny till you season it(use it a lot) but after that it will just taste like weed even after you scrape it but glass is better cuz you dont have to season it and they look amazing if you looking for a new piece i suggest looking at em all and whichever one sticks out at you the most get that one...hope i was helpfull
