Whoa! I was just talking about something like that today. I thought that if I were stranded in Siberia and I didn't have a piece, but I came across a wild weed plant (a special strain that grows in snow) that I would take a dead guys lung and freeze it and turn it into a bong. dude.

there is such incredible glass at that site (i would say lots of stuff cooler than that piece) everyone who appreciates glass should spend a few hours looking there

That's a nice piece, but more of a show pipe than a daily smoker. When I get rich I'm sure that site and me will become beeeest of friends. LOL

Instead of a trophy room there will be the glass pipe room.

I see glass like that as art. Sure it is sick but that piece is butt ugly as far as I'm concerned. I like when a blower follows a theme and uses clean straight lines. That just looks like a clutterfuck of different techniques...way too busy. But you're right, there is a lot of sick glass on that sight. And don't get me wrong, the guy who blew that piece is very talented. It's just not my style.

This head shop near my house has some serious ass headies. They have more in stock than many of the shops I know. I have to say, that when I do decide to buy a piece like that it will take some serious searching. I find most of them hideous. I believe that there is a way to show off sick glass technique while still following a theme. The best example I know is TC's old school headie stash jar bubbler chaos. All the colors follow a pattern, and though several techniques are used, they all seem to blend together. Just my $.02...

No dude I feel you...it's as if the artist wanted to showcase all the techniques he could do. That's fine, but a more well-planned and executed design that (like you said) follows a "theme" takes true artistic tallent (at least to make the chosen techniques SICK..)

I'm no glass blower, but I've been around and met a few...the most artistic ones are the ones that don't try to "do it all"..but stick to a certain technique (reverals, dichros, fritt...ect) and really take it to the extreme.

I'd be proud to own that piece...i wish I had that kind of money to spend on my smoking utensils. . . !!!

That's a gorgeous piece. The shaping of the body of the fairy is on point. I believe the glass blower is a woman.. Julie R?

I don't really see that many techs.. Gold fuming, encased opal, reversal close to mouth piece?, and air trap on the mushroom tops? I could be wrong, not an expert but I don't think that piece is very techy. Busy though, keeping the ferry theme with flowers and mushrooms and very well done but not techy IMO.

Art sure is subjective!
