Default Cracks in glass

I recently purchased a new glass chillum that says 420 on it. I've seen plenty of friends with pipes very similar to this, but mine is different. Mine has developed multiple small cracks around the circumference of the chamber. Nothing that I can feel, and nothing that causes any change in function, but these small, almost invisible cracks have me worried that a break is eminent.

Has anybody ever seen this before? and should I be worried?

If there are cracks you can be sure that the structural integrity of the chillum has been compromised. If they are so tiny that only the surface of the glass has the cracks, that is to say that the cracks don't penetrate the entire thickness of the glass, it is safe to assume that it is not as likely to break, chipping though can be expected if the glass is abused.

As you probably know, you should concern yourself with observing any further progression of cracking.

If it's cold where you live and the cracks only stared appearing recently, the cracks my be cause because you are smoking outside. The heat from the flame expands the glass, the cold air quickly cools and contracts it. When done in repetition, this can easily cause cracks to form in glass.

If it was a nice piece that you had for a long time, I'd retire it.

But you should just keep it around until it finally shatters. It will eventually.

If its just one of those little 20$ pipes with 420 on it that Iv smoked out of... Then I wouldn't really worry about it, just get as much use out of it as you can. Now if its a bigger pipe and you like it alot then I might think about keeping it inside in safe place. Be very careful with it.

It's probably the same $20 420 pipe everybody's smoked out of, but I liked it.

I believe that it has been the cold temperatures outside lately that have done it. These cracks suggest that cold is the culprit. I'll just have to be a little more careful. Thanks for the help

Sometimes when a glass blower makes glass the stuff cracks a little but as he is blowing it.

It's natural, one of my nicer pipes actually has a 'crack' in it. It's not a crack but merely a deformation created when the artist created the product.

It will probably eventually break if you use it alot. But if your safe and keep it secure I Could see it lasting you a very long time.
