I don't know what changed for me, but I always cap my bowls after a hit. I just put my thumb over the bowl pack and the cherry dies within seconds. Unless I'm with other people, then I just pass it after my hit. What bugs me, is when I pass it and its cherried and the reciever takes it...holds on to it...then says "Who has a lighter?" Just hit it man!

I would personally much rather take a hit from the cherry than have to relight it. A lot of times I'm in a room with a lot of fans, or even outside, so lighting the bowl is usually a hassle. I'm just lazy, though... that's the real problem.

I take a small break sometimes between hits. Like, every couple hits, I'll stop and pause for like 30 seconds, then I'll relight it. Other than that, that cherry is gonna burn!

EDIT: I do cherry it as much as possible, but I usually torch my hit anyways, just because I take huge hits.

I try and keep the cherry going as long as possible. Since I'm almost always the one smoking people out, it really pisses me off when they let the cherry burn or torch the weed every time they get the bowl. I mean, I want to enjoy the smoking itself, but it's not fun when your friends are wastin your weed. Plus we almost always smoke outside, so it's a big pain in the ass to relight. So yeah, I say always try to keep it cherried.

I usually grind up about .2-.3, pack the bowl, and kill it in 1 hit. Cherry? Unheard of!
