Alright, so I searched but couldn't really find anything to answer my questions. There was another tobacco pipe thread, but it was a lot more broad. Anyway, I can't get a glass bowl for a while and I have been using a tobacco pipe as an alternative. Big ass bowl, smokes very smooth, but I was wondering if I should remove the little white pipe filter on the inside since it clogs/ dirties quickly and I figure I could probably take bigger hits without it. I was wondering if it is necessary for using these pipes or if I should just pitch it in hopes of getting rid of stale taste since all the green has to pass through a tarry filter. I was also wondering if it could be beneficial to drill a hole in the side of the pipe to make a carb and if so, would I really even need a glass bowl? (this is a 20 dollar briar pipe, not the best as far as tobacco pipes go, but it is still quality made and not a semi-disposable type of thing like a corncob pipe)

As far as the fillter take it out if it's old, you don't want all the tobacco shit in your lungs now. Your supposed to replace those every few times you smoke. For weed, you could add one, but unless you have more than enough weed around I wouldn't, as some THC is getting trapped in it. It would make your hits smoother though. I wouldn't bother with a carb, but driling a small hole would work for that if you like smoking with a carb better, thats personal preferance. As far as needing a glass pipe, you don't really, but it would be nicer. This pipe won't last too long for weed, atleast not as long as for tabacco, because tabacco only need light ing every once in a while, but weed you hold the lighter there more, which burns it more. Glass would also give a smoother, better tasting hit. That pipe should work fine until then though.

Dude i have smoked out of tobacco pipes like that, trust me glass is way better than a big bulky piece of corncob. And when you have a small amout of weed it is really weird smoking a tiny amount out of a big bowl

That's why you back the big bowl all the way full, so it doesn't seem as weird.

I would say move onto a glass soon. The main reason is that wood pipes clog up with resin fairly quickly and their not worth the effort of cleaning.

Plus with glass you'll get better tasting smoother hits. And something nice and psycadelic to look at instead of a big cut of wood.

I would say, keep smokin the wooden tobbaco pipe until you are able to buy a nice "glass tobbaco pipe" hahaha.
