i have two glass and a ceramic one actually and i really like the glass never used metal or wood , but the ceramic one i got from a friend heavily used and just doesnt tast good compared to the glass but it does hole about 2 grams at once

Ive never used metal, and i dont want to. Glass is clearly the best option, although I do like the texture of a good wooden pipe.

Glass all the way, for people who are saying wood for the tatse get a clean glass pipe and some good buds - nothing brown or kinda green not brick I mean fresh sticky green bud and you'll get a beautifull flavor in a pipe that looks better (if good stuff is not available then get some hydro) wood is my second choice and can we all agree that ceramic sucks real bad might as well smoke resin

metal isnt all that bad. i mean its not as clean as a glass one (the taste i mean). i really think its a personal preference.

The only bad things I can think of about metal pipes are that they get pretty hot (although that can be said about most pipes, but wood tends to insulate more effectively), and that the smoke is generally tasteless or shitty-tasting, if the pipe is made of the wrong kind of metal.

Apart from that, I'd say that metal's the way to go. You could whip it at a concrete wall all day with nothing to worry about, metal's malleability allows it to be fashioned into as small a piece as possible, and with regular cleaning, they'll last you a lifetime, which is more than you can say about glass and wood, which discolor. With wood, which is arguably one of the most pleasant things to smoke from, what I can't get past is the fact that that "good smoke taste" is just burning wood that you're inhaling, which can't be good for you really. With metal, the only health risk (unless, again, it's the wrong metal) is inhaling all the non-THC from the herb itself. Personally, I'd stick with water bongs, but what the hell.

Also, yeah, glass is trippy, and you can design some cool crap in there, but come on, you can carve metal, engrave it, even laser-emboss that shit. You can paint it, and it can be sculpted just like glass, only at a higher temperature. All pipes have the potential to look great, and that's not really what I look for in a pipe anyway.

Really, a variety of factors go into the kind of pipe I decide on. To be honest, the most deciding factor in my pipes is simply their length. There's nothing worse than burning your fingers on a pipe just because the fucker's too short. Then again, it also sucks to have half a pipe sticking out of your jeans when you're getting pulled over by the cops!

I use screens in glass. I just have problems with metal getting too hot. I've never smoked out of wood though I have one. (I was cleaning an apartment. Somebody moved out and left it behind.)

Why dont you use a glass screen cost almost nothing and they last forever would be cheaper and tastier
