no soldering required. it all screws in together. just make sure that everything is the same size (aka same diameter). the size is listed on the package of the parts

the pipe works great. good hits. they don't even taste like brass like i heard they would. anyway, i do believe that isn't healthy persay (smoking duh) but it isn't toxic and going to poison you. know what i mean?

nice job, its pretty nice and compact
but i would go with galvanized steel, it seems to be cheaper at my local hardware store, ive put together a nice piece for less than 5 dollars (way better than ordering something online!)
