if i were to use a sink aerator such as this one: Greenfeet.com - Sink Faucet Aerator .5 GPM
how safe would it be. i feel like i've read that chrome is toxic when heated. also, are there any non plated screens that people have used or is there a way to remove the plating?

Im not sure about chrome, but it can't be good for you. I always use steel wool, it works well, it's cheap, easy and it's just steel so it wont be as bad for you.

steel wool huh? that's a good idea. how do you set that up in the bowl so it syats above the hole that leads to the chamber. but if it works i'll need to head out and buy some since i only have the steel wool that's combine with soap pads at my house

I always get my screens at a tobacco store. You get around 10 screens for like a $1.20, not too bad. And the screens fit into anything, homemade pieces, corncob pipes, metal pipes, gravity bong caps, anything.

If you're going to order a sink aerator online, why not just buy some screens? At
smokinjoespipes.com you can get 10 screens, in brass or stainless, for $1.50 with free delivery.

i wasn't going to order anything online. no credit card. but does anyone know about the steel wool idea? and also are there some sink aerators that don't have chrome on them

why don't you just use a pebble? it works pretty well, just wash it off and stick it in your bowl. or use tin foil if it's a homemade piece.

Yeah,the thing about steel wool is that i always have some sort of bowl made out of a in inch pipe or so and having it lead into a smaller hole, and just stuff the steel wool in there. It's kinda hard to explain, but it works good.
