so i made a little homemade bing which was made out of a pen sticking into a water bottle sealed by glue and the bowlpeice was socket thing like the small metal peice and its connected to the pen by tape. so my question is will the socket heat up enough to melt the duct tape and let out fumes that are bad for you?

if you get a smaller fitting socket, or a bigger pen tube it should fit on perfectly (mine did when i made it) and you shouldnt really need tape. i'd say use hockey tape, or that silver furnace tape (not duct tape..).
