| Briar. The wood of choice for pipes for centuries. Not just for flavor, but long-term construction and use. Go briar.

| Briar is best. Hardwoods are good, it they're properly dried and cured. Don't use pine. It contains a lot of resins that make it very flammable and spoil the taste of whatever you smoke.

| Oak will work but it has to be thoroughly dried and cured. If you use wood with any appreciable moisture content, the heat will cause it to crack. |

| Used to have a Teak wood pipe, way back when....like 1975. Always had a sweet woody taste to it. Very nice for a mellow toke.
