If there's no potential substitute for drilling glass, what type of diamond bit should I use? How thick of a bit? 1/2" ? 1/8" ?

Probably a sixteenth larger than your stem. I.e. If your stem is 3/8 then drillbit needs to be 7/16,1/2 inch stem=9/16 bit, etc. Happy piping!!!

Regular sized stems are 9/16 bits? Sorry, I wanted to know the regular size of a stem for the bits. Last edited by galoot : 01-05-2009 at 01:32 AM.
