Chicken Joe

I was super toasted watching Dazed and Confused the other day, when I got the idea to buy a wooden or bamboo vase, and make a bong out of it. I don't have any glass drill bits, and they're kinda expensive ($15-$35), so I thought it would be easier to make one out of wood. I plan on either buying a glass downstem and bowl, or making one out of bamboo and a ratchet socket. Any suggestions or ideas?

You can find bamboo growing wild in much of the warmer parts of the US. Once properly dried and cured, bamboo makes a great bong. Bongs made from green bamboo don't seem to last as long. Cutting bamboo with a machete is pretty wild. Where else do you get to swing a "broadsword" with all your might? Bamboo bongs are incredibly easy to make:

1. Cut one section of bamboo, flat under one node and the same with the next node.
2. Drill a hole at approximately the correct angle and position.
3. Insert rubber grommet.
4. Insert glass downstem.
5. Insert glass bowl.

The nice thing about having cheap/free bamboo is that you have spare pieces with which to make mistakes until you get it right.
