| Things to use for... The actual bong: Almost anything can be used for a bong. You just gotta know what to look for. -Novelty Cups from fairs and the like such as the Hellevator cups at Playland in Vancouver BC or Senor Frog cups. -Creative looking water bottles such as the POM bottles or OGO bottles -Sports Drinks like Gatorade or Powerade. Thick plastic is always nice -Glass bottles like Goldschlager. Keep in mind, a diamond tipped drill bit may be necessary for drilling through glass bottles -Other Random Things. Be creative. We've seen pill bottles, teapots, and all sorts of things. The Stem: A long rod with a hole through it. There's gotta be one around somewhere -Pens are really popular for homeade bong stems. Just find one where you can take out the ink and you're left with a only a tube. -Straws can be used in some cases. Not those pussy straws you get in restaurants but often the ones that come in the novelty cups and such can be put to good use as they're generally a whole lot sturdier. -Tools from your garage or even your kitchen. I'm sure if you look around enough you can find something long and skinny with a hole through it. And if you're lucky it will be metal which is a lot better. There's always the risk of burning plastic when using a plastic stem. -Old toys. I know this has worked for me. Sometimes I'll find toys from my childhood perfect for stems or bongs and such. Remember that old toy telescope you had as a kid? Or that toy whistle you had? Be creative. The Bowl: Now the bowl is important as it should preferably be metal. If you're lucky, you'll find something glass to use, or even stone. -Tin/Aluminum Foil. I myself hate using tin foil due to the risks associated with it. I don't know who's right. Some say it's bad for you, some say it's not. I'm not taking any chances. But if you need something quick, and it's only a one time use, I'm sure it won't hurt you. -Socket from your papas tool kit. This one is a popular one and often quite safe. Just make sure it's not an oily used socket. That's gross. Make sure it's clean and relatively new. The hole may be too big but I'll solve that in the next section. -Metal Pen Tips from that fancy pen you just had to buy. These can often be great one hitter bowls. They usually screw off quite easily and will fit snugly into many stems. But be warned! Not all of these seemingly metal tips are actually metal. It's not uncommon to find plastic ones that are painted or whatever to look metal. Check it first! Smoking plastic is bad for you. -Thimbles. Some of your mom's thimbles are metal with tiny holes in the bottom and are great for bowls. Others have no holes but I'm sure they can easily be poked in, and then there's some that are even plastic. So again, watch out for those. -Bottle Caps from beers and such. I've never used these but I've heard of it being done. I don't think it's safe to just poke some holes in and start smoking. Most of these have paint on them which you will need to remove and I beleive their might be some chemicals too. I'd be extra careful, sanitizing one of these well before putting it to use. -Pepper and Salt shaker lids can be fantastic for bowls. They're often metal and already have small holes in them. Just screw them off, wash them, make sure they're metal, and there you have it. -Tip of a Lightbulb. I'm talking about those odd shaped pointy lightbulbs. I've never done this but have seen it done. You need to somehow break the pointed tip off and put a small hole through it. Apparently it's quite easy but I have some doubts about that. Either way though, it's glass which is safe. Be warned though. The white lightbulbs are dangerous to smoke out of and must be cleaned properly before hand. Also, when breaking the bulb, I'm assuming there's a great risk of flying glass shards and cuts. But if you're brave enough to try this, and have enough patience, go for it. The Screen: Once you have your bowl, a screen may or may not be necessary. If you have a nice small hole in the bowl, then you're good to go. If not, here's some ideas. -Small rocks work great for a quick screen. Wash them off and make sure they're bigger than the hole so they won't fall in, yet leave room for air to pass through. -Earbud screens from your earbuds can also be perfect screens. Some are metal, some aren't, so please check first. It may take some work dissasembling your earbud to get them out, but it will be worth it. Just make sure they're metal! -Tin/Aluminum foil can also be used as a screen. Again, potentially dangerous, use as a last resort. Poke holes in it and place in your bowl. -The Screens from Water Faucets make a wonderful screen. Just make sure momma doesn't mind you taking apart the faucet to get at it. -Tangled up metal is something many don't think of. I've used it before. I just took some paperclips and staples and tangled them all up together and dropped it into my bowl. It worked nicely actually. Seal it up: It's good to make sure everything is airtight to get the best possible hits out of your bong. -Use your lighter to melt the plastic of whatever you chose enough so that you can push the stem in and have the plastic harden and seal around it. -Tape can be used to tape various parts on. Just be careful when taping the bowl to the stem as the bowl could heat up during use and melt the tape. Breathing the fumes from the tape isn't good. Tape doesn't look all that pretty either. -Glue can also be a great seal. Whether it's gorilla glue, super glue, glue gun glue or school glue, it should be able to seal up your bong good. Again though, make sure it doesn't start to melt if it gets heated up too much. -Rubber Gromets are a good seal if you can manage to find some the right size. They should make for a nice hitting bong. And last but not least, you'll need to fill the bong with water and pack that bowl with some reefer. Light up, and enjoy. Hopefully this post came in handy. I was bored and figured I would contribute.

| Awesome post Stepchild. I've actually been thinking about starting up a post like this so I'm glad someone did. I'll add what I can. Instead of Aluminum foil, cut up a pop can and use it instead. It's thicker and handles the heat better. I hate the aluminum foil taste(aka bad fumes) and I've never had it with pop cans. Materials to Not Use PVC Copper Galvanized Steel Aluminum foil |

| When using a make shit bowl, especially a socket. Make sure to bring a thin utinsle to possible clean out the bowl, or get the burnt weed out. Ive had times where the bowl was cashed but I couldent get the bud out.

| If you like the seal a hot glue gun makes but you don't want to carry one around, you can just use a glue stick and a lighter. Cut off the amount of glue you want to use, heat it up on a knife, and apply. WARNING: Dripping glue on your hand really sucks! |
