| There has been much talk about b0ngs removing some of the more harmfull materials(or tar) from weed smoke. Because this assumtion was made, of course there were scientific test done and this was one of the statements made : *"Surprisingly, the unfiltered joint outperformed all devices except the vaporizers, with a ratio of about 1 part cannabinoids to 13 parts tar. " This is a THC/Tar type experiment, how much of the "good stuff" do you get in that smoke vs the other stuff. Well joints have that damn slipstream smoke which you watch float away. This is a problem, all this wasted smoke. I found if you get an ash tray and have nothing but ash in it, finely powdered ash as you smoke the joint (between hits) you can roll it around in there to slow the rate at which it burns. If this is done with cigarettes the following hit taste terrible, but I have found that this is not so with joints. From there pass the ash tray with the joint and have all guest follow suit, if they think it is stupid then let them supply the weed because it doesnt come free. Now of course if your talking about a big nana hooter joint then it wont work, but then again if your talking about a large joint you arent trying to save weed anyways are you ? The point of this is to show again that in the effort to conserve weed you are not just limited to a pipe as many people believe. *www.maps.org/news-letters/v06n3/06359mj1.html | |

| Well, I personaly seldom use joints. Only if I'm on the road and need to pack for out door use. I have a collection of pipes that work well. I suggest buying a pipe. |

| New Member | yea, pipes are good. How I conserve weed is i use a metal pipe with a smokeless cap. Not only does this not let any smoke up (to be smelled by, say, parents) it also doesnt let any precious THC escape. Also what i do is vaporize it by holding the lighter away from the bowl. Its kinda hard to do, but after practicing for like a week i got it down, and it works great. Thats how i make $10 of shwagg last for weeks while still smoking once a day. ~Nickkers |

| i prefer bowls. i dunno why, but it seems to make my pot last longer just to smoke bowls. maybe i'm a magician. oops i think i just pulled a rabbit out of my sock. i think maybe i just prefer bowls because i'm too lazy to roll joints. and my pot lasts longer because other people put their pot in the bowl too. who knows? but seriously, i think that pipes are better. i wonder why they didn't include regular pipes in that study that was mentioned? i wonder if they're healthier than a joint cuz you're not smokin paper? -chromevixen | |

| Joints are wasteful, once you lite it you commit to smoking all of it or wasting all of it. In a pipe it is easy to exstinguish the flame and save the bowl for later. |

| New Member | Personally I get way higher smoking little amount of weed from one-hit water bongs then any other way. No smoke escapes and it goes in super smooth and I can take huge tokes. Regular pipes are in my opinion extremely harsh on the throat.
