any practical and easy ways to build a decent vapourizer. it is the last smoking frontier for me, and it interests me heaps, help would be appreciated. home-made methods are the only options, because i am a student and have little money, but i am handy with my hands(hehe haha)sik one dudes.

My friends and I made one before. We used a pyrex measuring cup on top of an electric stove. Then we put the tube of a broken glass bong on it, top side down. Then we put tinfoil on the top of the bong and made a tinfoil tube to hit off of. Hope that gives you a place to start. If you want me to clarify what we did, let me know.

i've been wondering this same question endo and mylobeans reply makes sense but does anyone have an idea without standing over the stove? I will try mylobeans idea if nothin else comes in. thanks ya'll

i was thinking about a sodering iron. one that you plug in and the rod gets hot. would it get hot enough though??

for all of those looking to make a homemade vape . . .

the best way i have heard of making one is as follows

i guess if u dont feel like making a table to hold the soldering iron upright, u can probably hold it by hand

but the general idea is to get a soldering iron and attach something of a metallic bowl to the end of it, u stuff the weed in the bowl and then plug it in, place it under about 3/4 of a plastic soda (2-liter bottle type setup) bottle and wait for the vapors to emerge . . . from an article published on it, it's said to work, although not the best method (best method being buying one)

the soldering iron will get it hot enough, and remember, hot enough being lower temp then a bic lighter
(as the psychoactives will have a lower burning temp then plant material)

well i have personally made a vapourizer before. it's pretty easy and just like the previous post. you can take a soldering pen/iron and make a base for it out of wood, drill a hole so the iron can stick up through it. get any type of plastic container to go over top. or plexi glass works best. and make it airtight. chop the weed up fine, seal it up and wait for the chamber to fill up with vapour and go hard. works really good actually, doesn't take much time and is pretty cheep! give it a go and goodluck man

YOu could take all the guts out of a lightbulb, then scrape the whit stuff off. Put the pot in there and light the bottom, wat for the vapors and wa la.

just a word of caution when building a soldering iron vapouriser, I had a big plastic bottle that covered my soldering iron, the top of it was about 30 cm from the top of the soldering iron and it still managed to get warped from the vapour which sucked.

Also, I don't know how hot these vapourisers get so some of them may go beyond the decarboxylation temperature and you'd just have a crappy smoking device.

And it's a ***** to reload the bowl after it's gotten so ****in hot.

I don't mean to put you off or anything, and vapourisers are easy to make but I just think the home made ones suck too much to be of any use to me.

yo, there are a bunch of different vaporizer types. i am gonna list them here. I actually ment to post this somewhere else, which i am gonna in a little bit.

a vaporizer's efficiency varies upon its quality of design. Most use more weed than a normal pipe, but some use less.
There are several types, though.
A soldering iron
The soldering iron type, which is any type that uses a heated object like a soldering iron to conduct heat to weed in a bowl that is attatched to the heater, thus vaporizing the THC once hot enough. These vapors are then collected by a dome or some other way so that they can be inhaled. These are the generic vaporizers. They are most common. They work well, especially if made by an actual company and not by you, but they are not the best type. The soldering iron vaporizers not made by you can be more efficient than pipes, but the ones that are made by you wil most likely be less efficient than pipes

A crack pipe
These use a flame or heat source to heat a bowl or glass tube with weed in it, like the first type, but instead of collecting the vapors in a dome, they are inhaled directly like in a pipe. This can be good, but the effectiveness varies with the quality and design

A heat gun
This is the best kind. Air is heated to THC's vaporizing temperature (this is debated. its said to be from 200-400 degrees Fahrenheit, but i think its around 380-430 F), and is drawn through finely chopped herb, and the resulting vapor is inhaled like in the crack pipe type. When done correctly, this method is MORE efficient than any flame operated method. The best version of this vaporizer is the Eterra (do a search on any search engine, and you will probably find its site). it costs around 150 dollars american, and is easy to use. If you only wanna spend 40 dollars american, you can make your own with a heat gun, which can be bought in the painting section of a hardware store, and a bowl with a little bit of finely chopped weed in it , by using the heated air from the gun where the flame from a lighter normally goes, but, it is hard to do. yeah. i hoped this helped.

Once, I had a recently purchased half oz. in a car, but no smoking tools at all, not even any papers or a lighter. I had a brain fart and pushed the cigarette lighter in, and then I pulled it out and stuck a tiny pinch of herb on the orange-hot coils, inhaling slowly over it. It worked alright, but the smoke came slowly over a long time interval, not very satisfying. I tried it again with a small amount of shake and stuck a penny on top of the herb in the cig. lighter. It worked awesome, a big puff of smoke. heh, I'm stoned and rambling, but I guess that was pretty desperate.
